TL has better interior, IMO.

Otherwise, if you're really after bang-for-the-buck, the Altima does seem to have the Acura beat. It really comes down to you and what your preference is. Did you testdrive the vehicles? Which one feels better to you on the road? On the highway? Only you can answer that as it is YOUR car...

TL has better service and warranty.

Better interior and exterior styling too but thats my opinion.

Never driven the new Altima so cant comment there. I would assume the TL has more sound deadening though.

its kinda hard.. you're comparing nissan to acura... acura is luxury nissan's luxury line is infinities... but really it's your car... styling goes to the TL... performance, well depends what you're into. overall the TL is the better car IMO, but the altima is cheaper...

you know i was thinking about the same thing over the holidays. i haven't test driven the new acuras or nissans, but from a purely overhead view the altima seems sooooo much better. value and content wise anyhow. it has more features, more power, pretty good styling for the MMC (or is this considered a complete model redesign?)

but even without driving it i would have to imagine that an acura will still feel better, smoother, etc. when you drive it. i was in florida last weekend and had a 2006 grand marquis rental and i couldn't have been happier to get back into my 2002 TLS! now the difference in cars won't be that extreme when it comes to the new altima, but this is something to consider.

i bet if you do another back to back test drive you'll have an easier time making up your mind.

I was in an Altima earlier this week at the Autoshow,...............dont see what the big deal is. IMO the TL interior is a lot nicer. I would hazard the guess that the TL drives better too,....but I really dont know cause I have not test driven both cars. TL looks > Altima looks. Anyway, thats just my opinion.

Oh wait,...........Im a TSX guy,................

May be a bit extreme

Remind me about the debate of buying twice the size, better quality diamond ring from Costco or Tiffany Diamond ring for the same price.

There's a difference between leather "cracking" and merely showing "wrinkles" which all leather does with time. People who say the leather in the TL cracks and looks awful haven't been around leather seats very long, IMO.

No matter what others say you're still going to buy what you want.

You seem to be sold on the Altima and I don't think other people's opinions are going to matter.

Both of these cars are great, for me it would come down to $$$. You stated the Altima was $32k, how much can you get the TL for?

Btw, $32k for the Altima seems to be quite high. You can get into a G35 Journey for that price.

You have to go with which one you like. To have someone try to talked you into something, you may regret the decision. Go drive them both again and see which one you like the most. It seems you have your mind made up. But you want to own an Acura not a Nissan.

I had a 2003 Atlima, regular 4 banger, When it came time to upgrade I thought the TL was just a better car. Of course you are talking about the new Gen Altima.

I am a standard transmission guy myself so I vote the new TL-S.

And if you want more power you can have at her.

Nissan is a very good brand and the G35 is sex in my eyes but...you win some you lose some

I just hope that Nissan brings back the Altima SE-R again

Let's see the competition this fall 2007 when the 8th Gen Accord comes out. Will the new Altima still be able to compete with it?

Altima is a new design, TL is a few years old, so it's an apple/orange comparison...

Wait till the new TL comes out and then recompare the 2

In the long run, I believe the TL will hold its value better than an Altima. Check out the lease residuals between the Nissan and Acura if you want to verify.

I would go with the TL. With the Altima you'll be seeing the 4 bangers everyday and that may or may not be a good thing to you. I definitely wouldn't like it. Around here people really like to put ugly ass chrome wheels on Altimas without lowering them. See them every day. The TL's tend to fare better and are just in a different class.

The "RESALE Value" is going to be the deciding factor in this case. As I was in the same position last year. I was opting to get the 06 Maxima over the 06 TL. But when I did research, the nissans dont hold the value as much. For instance do a Kelley's Blue Book or NADA review and you will see that there's about a 2500-5000 difference on resale, trade in , 3rd party prices. I owned all Nissans prior to my 06 TL, if it were not for the resale value this time around I would still be a Nissan man. On that note My friends 1993 Acura Legend (MINT with low miles) sold for $(4700) while my 1996 Maxima GXE (Mint with low miles) sold only for $3400. Now that's a 13 year difference in car technoloigy and the Acura still sold for more.

The new Nissan line ups are nice but the interior does look very cheap and with super plastic overlays. The New Maxima is a perfect example since I have not been in new Altima yet. My 06 TL (black on black) is beautiful inside.

I second that. I sat in both cars within a few hours at the autoshow earlier this week. It's not even close,......TL wins for interior hands down.

on one hand there's a huge price difference, yeah, the Altima's gonna be faster, But it's a Nissan and it's Not even at the top of their line up. TL will have a better resale valve down the road. Did you say "new" trannie? Who knows if there's going to be problems or not with a 1st gen car a year from now.

But with that said, I love the design of the tail lights on the new Altima, I rarely like cars for their backend. $32k with leather and Navi? That's a big plus. Was it MT or Auto?

I've been raving about the Subaru Legacy GT , do me a favor, just for the heck of it, go test drive a GT Limited and see how you like it

Shit, for thousands less (than the g35 ) you can get a Legacy GT spec B! (and yes, that's with Navi)

edit: okay, maybe Not "thousands" less

@ $35k+, the Spec B is overpriced for what it is.

Back on topic, even though the new Altima is fairly well upgraded from the outgoing model and compares well to the current TL, the new G35 still compares more favorably to the TL.

Check the Infiniti resale value aswell. The G35 series has gone from its first debut price of $30,000 to a whopping new $37,000 base price on an avg. But the resale value is not showing the same stats.

Why would anyone buy the Altima?

The Nissan Altima has historically been one of the best cars in its class to lease.

Nissan whores them out, just like the Pathfinder.

Look at the 24 month progam, its a steal (rate is a little high, but the residual is very strong).

2007 Nissan Altima 4dr Sedan 3.5 SE - February Rates

24 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 70% of MSRP – .00233 Base Money Factor Buy Rate
36 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 59% of MSRP – .00243 Base Money Factor Buy Rate
48 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 45% of MSRP – .00295 Base Money Factor Buy Rate

24 mo/12k mi – Residual Value 71% of MSRP – .00233 Base Money Factor Buy Rate
36 mo/12k mi – Residual Value 60% of MSRP – .00243 Base Money Factor Buy Rate
48 mo/12k mi – Residual Value 46% of MSRP – .00295 Base Money Factor Buy Rate

Here is a brand new review of the Altima by Canadian Driver. It's on the 2.5S, but still a decent write-up nonetheless.
