New ride for the Wife

Well we traded the 4Runner. She got an 05 Yukon w/front bucket seats, Bose stereo, third row, rear air, climate control, dvd player. It is charcoal with gray int. It has the 5.3 V8 with towing.

My initial thoughts are: very smooth ride, no rattles, plenty of power, comfy seats, lots of room.

I got it for 33,500. Original sticker was 43,100.

Pics will come later, dark outside.

PLease say you will be towing with it.

And why does your wife need it?

Sorry, just that soccer moms in gargantuan SUVs in my area piss me off cause they can't drive and are paying more attention to their phone conversation than driving.

Holy stereotype Batman...

Good choice JW. Good thing about GM's is they are easy to fix, easy to find aftermarket parts for.

Excellent choice, and thats a great price.

Not judging, just curious, why such a ginormous vehicle?

what do you think of the interior?
I'm interested in seeing the new GM full-size SUV's when they come out in first quarter of '05. My wifey and I will be looking hard at the Yukon, Denali and Escalade.

Nice price on it!

I will be towing with it. We own a Mastercraft X30.

My wife does need it. My family needed it. We take weekend trips to our cabin in the smokies almost every weekend. There is always another family going with us, or the in laws. This way we do not have to take 2 cars.

My wife uses approx 15 mins a month on her cell phone. With a 7 mos old in the car, she cares more about safety than the phone. Plus she hates those damn soccer moms in huge SUV's that cannot drive.

TRUST ME---I thought about the gas economy. The 4Runner was rated at 15-19. My wife avg's 17 in it, around town. The Yukon is rated at 14-19. I am hoping for very similar gas mileages.

I have mixed reviews on the interior. The seats are very comfortable and it has a ton of room. I am used to the Acura, so the dash is plactic looking (cause it is). It does have the auto climate control, which makes it nicer. Overall, you cannot beat the employee pricing right now. Hence why we bought it.

Oh yeah---for the ones asking why so big---One more reason. We have one child, with near plans for at least 2 more. We bought bigger than we need now, due to the great price.

At least you will be using it, compared to all the trucks around me that never get used besides driving around town wasting gas.

Good luck with the truck. Just watch out, our Envoy has 60k miles on it and is starting to squek and creek a little. But we also have airbags in the rear for the towing package, so I don't know if thats contributing to it.

GM makes some great trucks.

Hey I pay for my shit

As long as you're using it properly I don't see a problem. I'm just tired of 25 y/o soccer moms who learned to drive on an Escort hoping into the cabin of a 6000lbs vehicle and thinking it'll brake and handle the same

Good choice, I love the Denalis

soccer moms, whenever i honk at them they always look in the mirror and go back to talking on the phone. Best thing is that the cell phone ticket doesn't even matter to them cause they ain't paying for it. I love my area

Congrats

Mine has been problem free now for 26,000 miles ( ) and has served its purpose very well. I do recommend putting an intake on it. I did that with mine and got around 1.5-2MPG more (plus the extra HP ).

And I agree on the interior. It isn't the best with the plastic, but on long trips you will welcome how comfortable the seats are.

I am back from a very interesting weekend. We woke up Saturday morning and started to pack up the Yukon for our weekend trip to Louisville, with another family of 4. The third row seat was in the upright position, needed the room, and SUPRISE---the damn stroller would not fit in the back. I was sooooo pissed off. Here we are, 7:30 am, leaving for our corporate day event at Six Flags, and our new SUV does not have enough room. Off to the dealer we go.................

We got to the dealer at 8:30am. I dealt with the Sales Manager the night before and he was there Saturday morning as well. (I like dealing cars with the guy that drives your trade, prices it, and signs the deal. Much easier.) We explained our dilemma to him. He informed me that if they could not find us a Yukon XL (Big one), that they would refund our money. They searched for about 15 mins and found the same color and everything, except in the XL. We had to give up the bucket seats, Bose speakers, and rear audio controls. We gained the cargo mat, shade, and net. Oh yeah, and 18 more inches. Now I know all you guys would like 18 more inches, LOL. Here is the great part, it was 200 miles away. They hook us up with a Loaded XL---leather, dvd, etc. to take for the weekend. We came back at 3pm this afternoon and made the trade. $178.62 more, and we got the big one. My wife said, "we might not use this space all the time, but if we need it, we have it". I love her.

The big one drives just like the smaller one. The only difference is backing up.

I will look into the intake for sure. How much did you pay?

You are right, the seats and ride are comfortable. I could have drive 1000 miles with no ass pain.

Why would you care how his wife uses it? Last time I checked, we were free to buy what we want and use it how we wish.

This makes me wonder...

Now that all of the domestic manufacturers (at least) are offering substancially discounted new car prices, what has happened to the used car market?

Depressed another $5,000 also?

I'm not sure it would affect it that much, but its gotta hurt resale value of these cars down the road also.

Congrats! My family's always had GM trucks/SUV's. I'm a big fan of the 6.0 but they also have a '99 Sierra with 240,000 miles (not too much towing, but some) and it's still running strong on that 5.3. Best of luck with her.
