New (to me) 300ZX Convertible

I came across a truly mint condition 93 convertible on eBay (my wife and I were thinking about having a car at the other townhome in SC instead of renting each time we go there):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nisan...#ht_500wt_1182

After lengthy discussions with my brother (who owns a 1993 TT 300ZX), it was go time. I've paid for the car and will have it soon. It's going to the other house in South Carolina where only me, the Mrs., and my brother will be able to drive it.

I saw the car early this week. It's a 10/10 exterior (it is literally flawless- my MR-2 Spyder is pretty flawless with just a few paint chips up front, and this is perfect), runs like new, and the interior is beautiful and custom (11/10). It will not replace the Spyder, however, it will reside at the other house in South Carolina. Once it's in my possession, I plan on some pics of it and the Spyder together. I got it for $7500- to me, worth every cent. The Mrs. loves it as well (also because it's automatic). It will be babied I assure you.

Here's the Spyder which I'm sure I've posted here before:

So is it going to stay at your other home in SC?

Exactly- I'm getting it registered in SC. My wife and I generally go down there from NJ about 9 weeks out of the year- 1 week per month except January-March (for now, until we're semi retired (probably another 7-10 years, and then it'll be more like 4-6 months in NJ, and the rest of the year in SC).

Nice rides. Love the MR2, wish I fit in one, they are great cars but tiny inside.

Wow! It's always a good buy when you can buy a car like that from a guy like that. Congrats!

EBay purchases kinda scare me.

It didn't scare me- I went to his house, scrutinized it and drove it. It's as in the pics...really damn nice especially for the price.

As for the MR-2 being tight, I'm 6'1" and 250 lbs, and I'm actually very comfortable in it (I've done some really long distance, interstate cruising in it, and it's been great- no trunk space to speak of though, just a 2 cubic foot space behind the seats). The Miata and S2000, although really nice cars, were a tight fit for me.

I've always loved the 300zx, and that one looks damn good. I remember when I was looking for my first car over a decade ago, I went to go look at some. Even then it was hard to find early 90's models that weren't all beat up.

All the talk of the tight engine bay kinda scared me, but I'm sure it's fine, unless you're a total DIY mechanic. With all the cosmetic restorations, I hope the mechanical stuff is just as perfect, but miles are definitely low for a 18 year old car.

Interesting. I think I was at about 225 lbs and I'm only 6'0" when that car came out. Don't remember being comfortable, will have to check again. I agree about the Miata and S2000 though I know some will disagree.

I guess I compare everything to my DelSol which has a ton of legroom but fails to some in other ways. The Z has been one of my favorite cars.
