New Full Size SUV from ACURA!

So i was over at Acura dealer getting my car serviced, and I was in show room sitting in a MDX and drooling. I told the sale rep that my uncle is looking for a good size 7 passenger SUV and he might be interested in the MDX. so the sales rep told me, if he can hold it off till later summer, that acura is coming out with a full size SUV that is even larger than the MDX.

So is this true? I don't have any further details on what it might be, but I really want to know if they are gonna introduce a new SUV.

yeah, when i bought my cl-s in '00, the dealer told me the new "legend" would be unvieled the end of that year, and that the new integra was going to be out the end of '00.

some dealers know their stuff, some dealers just make stuff up because to the average customer, they don't know any better.

Haven't seen any indication that anything new will be here that quickly. My guess is the MDX replacement will be bigger which is due soon but not that soon!

Yeah, since the Odyssey is all new for 2005 and the Pilot/MDX are Ody-based, my hunch is that we can expect a new Pilot and MDX by the end of this year.

Word to the wise:

We find out info BEFORE car salemen find out info. If it's not here call the salesman a LIAR to his face turn around and walk out.

Makes sense. I'm sure Acura would like to compete with the Navi/Lincoln/QX guys. But yeah we would hear grumblings about it.

The redesigned MDX will be out in the fall of 2006. While it will be slightly larger(1" in Width and 2-3" in lenght) It won't be a "fullsize" SUV.

And there was a new RL set to be released back in 01 but it was scrapped.

There has been no indication whatsoever from Acura that there is another SUV in development aside from the RDX. Until I hear more from other sources, the salesman was lying through his teeth.

I doubt he was lying, more likely misinformed. What would be his reason for lying, he was told the person was interested in the MDX, not he was interested in a Acura BUT the MDX was too small. The lying salesmen are the ones telling you the "next" car is not coming/farther out that you think/doesn't fit your requirements in order to make a sale NOW. I just don't see someone lying to ensure he does NOT make a sale now AND when his "prediction" does not come true (which if he is lying he knows will not) he can not make a sale then, makes no sense. As usual it is a case of being incorectly informed, ingorance not deceit.

Actually, it sounded, to me, more like the salesman was just trying to make up stuff to sound like he was in the know. I run into that all the time with car salespeople. They try hard to act like they know more than they really do.

But Honda won't make a V8, so a vehicle like this wouldn't be very competitive. I think the salesman was just making up stuff.

They would need an engine that is capable of making 300+lb-ft of torque at around 3500RPM's - 4500RPM's for a large SUV, and I doubt an NA gas V6 Honda engine could do that.

In cars, yes. But not a full-size SUV. Those things need serious torque to get moving, and high-revving V6es aren't gonna cut it.

MDX, fine.
Full size SUV, teh noes!

Sounds good but unfortunately this is not the case. Salesmen are just that, salesmen. In an ideal world, a salesmen would know everything about a car inside and our, everything about the company, and everything about future products that are coming down the pipeline. This ideal world does not exist though. A car salesman's drive is to sell you a car PERIOD! I can't begin to count how many times I have went to a dealership and asked about something that I knew the answer to just to see if the salesman was really knowledgable about the product and get an answer that is totally wrong (I would rather get an I don't know but for some reasons the fuckers would rather pull something out their ass).

That came outta nowhere.

I don't ask hypothetical questions at dealers.
Heck, I don't even ask for comparisons. "We don't need RWD or sport shifts ... that's just marketing gimmick" (on a Honda Accord Coupe test drive).
