New Car- Porsche 911 (993)

Hey guys, I picked up a 1996 Porsche 911 (Iris Blue C4S) a few months back. The color is Iris Blue Metallic and previously outfitted with an OEM Porsche Areokit II, Bilstein PSS10's, and BBS E88's. The first thing I did was to bring the car back to the shop that completed my PPI and sort out a few things. Clutch was nearly worn and replaced. A leak was fxed in the case through bolts. I know most people live with this, but I thought to get the car completely sorted since I had some extra funds from a trade. Also newly installed are Coco Mats, Fabspeed xpipes, Fabspeed 200 cell cats, and Fabspeed tips. The exhaust sounds good, but it could be louder. LOL..... Sending my mufflers to FD Motors for their "stage 2 upgrade."

Lastly, I also purchased a Porsche Classic radio so I can have bluetooth capabilities. I think the car is set for now, but going to have some 18" Hartman Twist wheels rebuilt soon for next years look. In the meantime, just enjoying the car! Such a pleasure to drive and can't believe I waited this long. Here are some quick shots I took the other day.

Wow! The 993 is still probably the best looking 911 ever made IMO, well on the outside anyway. Looks super clean and new, how many miles is on it (looks like 40k)?

Yep... around 40k. I actually like the 964 slightly more, but this 993 was a gem and I wanted something a bit more "modern" and refined.

The Porsche market is stupid. 912e's for 30k, early 80's base 911's for actual money.

You though, I don't care what you paid. You did it right. .

Whoa!

great color. Amazing mileage. How did you find it? I’ve been softly looking at 996s low miles and came across some 993s C4s with 30-50k mileage fetching 60-100k. Couldn’t believe it.

Do you mind sharing your story on how you located this....and maybe...a rough handle on price? Is insuraance reasonable? What are you plans on ownership/mileage?

Yeah she's a beauty for sure, but I still miss your NSX (unless you still have it).

Whoa congrats! I'm always seeing these go across the line at Mecum's on TV. And what a color! I"m obviously partial to blue. I've never seen one in that color. How rare is it?

It's kinda a long story, but this one appeared locally and I worked out a deal. I was even able to find a previous owner who had the car for the majority of it's life and gave me good insight on the car and what he did in terms of maintenance, etc. This car's price was on the high end of the C4S 993 market, but the color/condition/mileage justified the price. I don't think I'll really lose out if I needed to sell. But plans are just a weekend cruiser, errand-getter, etc.

This is definitely one of the more rare colors (Iris Blue Metallic). It looks incredible in the sun. I'm just surprised not many people ordered this back in the late 90's. But then again, silver was all the rage then....

That car is banking on the PTS and special order options to move it; it was listed for $500,000 a couple years ago through another dealer.

An equal mileage, "generic" 993 Turbo will be half of that.

A '96 with 26,000 miles for $150,000.

Considering the asking price I am astonished at the potato-quality photos they provided! I mean, come on man! For that kind of money they should absolutely have done a high-res professional photo-shoot of the car! In fact I think Synth should offer his professional services and do that beauty the justice it deserves!!

Q

Quick update.

Porsche Classic Radio Navigation installed. This is a great option to keep the classic/period correct look, with the modern conveniences. Porsche was very smart to create something like this for the older cars. It comes with some optional USB ports I opted not to add. I didn't feel a need for it and wanted a more clean look. So happy to have bluetooth. Next up is paint correction/wax/seal and replacing the steering wheel for another OEM piece, but in black.

Edit:

I didn't realize the box had two knob options.... I installed the wrong ones. Doh! Here are the more "period correct" knobs installed:
