neuronbob's Official CTS-V Appreciation Thread (6MT V wagon 10 yrs old, pg 46)

EDIT 12/16/2012: I purchased CTS-V #2, a 6MT wagon with Recaros, bringing it home on 12/13/2012. Blurry immediate post-delivery pics are on page 18 of this thread. Better pictures are on page 19. I never thought I would buy one, let alone TWO CTS-Vs.

EDIT 8/25/2011:
This thread was formerly "The RL needed a wash, so I came home with a CTS-V (56k NO)". I changed the thread title at the suggestion of a member on page 11 because it has become more of a CTS-V appreciation thread. Please feel free to post CTS-V pics and vids in this thread. Still loving my car after 2 1/2 years!

Original post:
-------
I picked up a Radiant Silver 2009 Cadillac CTS-V on Friday. I purchased it from Superior Cadillac in Brighton, MI (between Detroit/Ann Arbor and Lansing, where the car is built). I have driven it 300 miles so far and the experience is incredible. There is torque anywhere you need it. The fit and finish are awesome, as good as my RL. The General has definitely come out with a fine product. I'll post a full review after a few weeks with the car, but I am NOT sorry I traded the RL, and people here know I loved my "Sleeping Beauty".

This thread, though is for pix. 56k just give the fsck up now.

"Sleeping Beauty", back to stock A-Spec form

"Silver Dragon"

The trip back from Brighton, MI....
Ohio Turnpike

Thank goodness for XM and CNN!

Time for a rest stop break!

The only interesting that happened on the Turnpike...

Almost home!

Early this morning I took a bunch of pix in perfect lighting conditions...

Some interior shots

In the park near my house

The functional brake cooling port

More in the park

Save the environment? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Mod #1: Transfer of my son's Britax Marathon car seat to the V. The ride is so smooth that my son slept on his first trip in the car.

This car will be my daily driver. The wife, my little boy, and I went grocery shopping today. The trunk is better configured than in my RL. I realize that seeing groceries in a supercar is not what most people expect, but this car will be one fast grocery-getter.

The key fob....alarm, keyless entry just like RL, and remote start

10 years!

I celebrated ten years with my manual wagon on Monday. It’s currently away for its tenth birthday present: replacement of the Xpel Ultimate, 2-stage paint correction, and 5-year ceramic coating.

Here’s a pic from last week, before it went away for the above. Weather willing, I should have it back next week.

Currently 49k miles and change, no big problems. I love it!

Or note is that there have been three low-miles OBM CTS-V wagons on BAT, 2 manual and one automatic, in the last six weeks, all selling for more than $100k. I’m obviously not getting that with the number of miles I have. At this point, though, I am just going to hang on and keep my hand away from my wallet because the value of my wagon will not be going down. NGL, though, the jonesing for a NC1 NSX is still really strong.

PS: I strongly recommend Xpel Ultimate self-healing. It did not yellow at all over the last ten years, and the self-healing actually works.

wow, that is an amazing interior for a GM product. I really like those little displays for the dual zone climate control. the exterior is kinda weird looking though.

You should ditch the Britax for one of these bad-boys and you'll be set!

It sounds wicked, too. I have a video I'm planning to upload when I have a chance.

Yup, for now. If it looks like the S will stay too often in the garage, I'll consider selling it. I'm going to sell the supercharger and exhaust I bought for it, though. With the CTS-V in my possession, modding the S beyond wheels and tires (it needed new tires anyway) would be totally superfluous. I didn't mean for this to happen....I bought the S in part so I could avoid buying a V....but I just couldn't keep away from the V.

My DDs are always automagical. The wife is a klutz with a stick, and she needs to be able to drive the car in an emergency. Thus, automatic. I've still got the S for when I need to shift, though. I got a VERY good deal, without which I would not have been sufficiently motivated to buy.

Congrats!
The 22 mpg is instant mileage, which can be quite good in this car. I averaged 16 mpg on the trip home. So far on my second tank of gas, with 50-50 city/highway, I am averaging 15.1 mpg. This is on winter blend gas and the car isn't broken in yet, so I expect better commuting mileage. Of course, when I get on it enough to hear that sweet supercharger whine, I get into the mid-single digits.

The car has magnetic ride control, like the Corvette, and can be set to a touring and sport mode. The touring mode is smoooooooooooth like the RL with A-Spec suspension. I tried it on a rough road around here and the ride was actually tolerable. The sport mode is a little rougher but definitely not harsh.

This is another one of those designs that you have to experience in 3D to love. The exterior looks BADASSED. It looks muscular and I tried to capture that in the fender shots. This car simply loves the camera, unlike certain Acura products lately (*cough*, TL , *cough*)

Another reason you might want to hold on to the S2K for a while. If you aren't pressed for cash or space those occassional drives in the little one might be priceless. Just leave it in the driveway or next to the garage covered.
