Need Truck Tires

No....I am not getting a new truck/car.

My wife drives our Pathfinder about 9000 miles a year. We put new tires on 3 years ago. In the last year they went from 8/32 down to 5/32. I am running normal tire pressure and the center is wearing really bad. The tires we have now are BF Goodrich Long Trails. They were really good until now. They are 60K mile tires and I got just about 30K out of them.

I spoke with the good folks at BJs yesterday and they are willing to refund me 50% of what I paid for them if I purchase the replacement set there.

What type of truck tires do you all recommend? I do not plan on off roading. The ones I am looking at are Michelin Latitude Tour. Any other ones and I will have to get them to special order them.

Thanks.

Have to check what I have... but I switched to a more highway tire ~2 years ago and they've been great. I have the Falken Ziex's.... not sure of the exact size off-hand (that's what I need to confirm), but they're 18's.

I have to recommend the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza! I have had 3 sets on my '04 RX330 and they performed extremely well in all sorts of condition....rain, light/heavy snow, dry, ice, etc....and very quiet. On all 3 sets, I averaged about 45k+ miles.

JB - Those won't work for me. I need one that will run in the snow. The BF's were decent tires for dry and 4WD snow traction. In the wet they slipped a bit more than I would like. I truly off-roaded once since I had the truck. Last summer we went to OBX and had to drive on the sand to get to our house.

Thanks.

Looks like I will need to keep it to Michelins or BF's or something that BJ's can get. I will see if they can get Bridgestones.

Ahh, gotcha. I have driven with them in snow/ice with no problems, but snow and ice down here is different then snow and ice up there

BFG AT KO's. Not cheap but they last forever & on a pathfinder they will ride nicely. Even if you don't do offroading they are great tires in the rain & bad weather. I had 6 sets through the years with different trucks I owned.

We've used the yokohama geolanders for 70k miles and they have worked pretty well for us.

Looks to be a bit too aggressive for the wife's uses. I will also have to go with a different size.

Looks are deceiving. They are actually good street tires. Not much noise & they handle well.
I also have used the yokohama Geolandar H/T-S on a suburban. They were pretty good. Though I only had that suburban 5k miles.

Well....I spoke with them today. I will need to get the replacement tires at BJs. Looks like I am going to get the Michelin Latitude Tour tires. Tirerack has them ranked slightly higher than the Long Trails.

Once we are in 4WD we never have issues with the traction.

I like the Yokohama Geolander AT, also the Firestone Destination for an everyday suv.

I thought you would be limited to the selection there to what you can get.

Firestone Destination LE's - has them on my Grand Cherokee and they were great. Quiet ride and really good in the snow.

Thanks all. I got the Michelins yesterday. Just waiting on them to be delivered. I like the options you all gave me but I could not justify buying something that BJs could not get. They are essentially giving me $360 off a set of tires. I am paying just over $400 for 4 tires and the protection plan. I can't pass that up. Based on the reviews I have read they should perform better than the BFGs I have now.

I will post updates.

Thanks.

Crazy good price. We have Michelin Pilots on the LX470, quietest tires ever on an suv. But we couldn't find (nor probably afford) the replacements, went with bridgestone dueler. You got a hell of a deal though, let us know how they turn out!

No call yet from BJs. Looks like it will be next week before we get them swapped out. Oh well.
