Need an ODBII scanner?

Amazon is running a deal on the one I have. It's a great basic scanner.

Actron CP9125 PocketScan Diagnostic Code Reader for OBDII (Post-1996) Vehicles

...and it just so happens that I am looking for one. Thank you. My Civic is not turning over so this will be handy in diagnosing the culprit.

Awesome deal.

Curious, though. Does it clear codes? The description doesn't say.

That's the same scanner I have and the only thing it doesn't do is give you information on readiness monitors, other wise its hard to beat.

If I needed to get the transmission fluid temp to do a fluid level check on a 4T45E or a newer Toyota, will it give me that info?

Nice find, thanks.

For anyone that misses the sale, you can find them on eBay for around $40 bucks as well. of course with Amazon though you can get the free shipping.

pre-96 are not obdII and nothing is standard back then, so its a nightmare to get the right adapters and read the codes.

Thanks for the tip! I just placed the order. I know I'm about a month behind, but I just noticed this thread today. It is only $43 today so I think it is only $3 more than the original sale price... (I think some people mentioned it was $39.99).

My wife's 2004 Infiniti G35 just had the check engine light come on, so I figure this thing will let me know if I actually have to take the car in.

Two questions:

1) Let's say the fault code is something minor and I simply reset. Assuming the problem still persists, how soon will the car throw the error code again?

2) Interestingly enough, the G35 has been in the body shop for the last 8 weeks and my wife just got it back yesterday. She knows the light wasn't on when she dropped the car off with them. She got rear-ended so all the damage was in the back end and passenger side rear. She drove the car for about a month after the accident before taking it into the body shop. So, if the accident did something, I would expect the CEL light to have come on during that time. But what could the body shop have done to cause the CEL light to come on? That probably sounds like a silly question to those that are more mechanically inclined than me, but I like to make sure before I just chalk it up to coincidence!

Thanks for any info.

^^^ start by reading the code, but in Acura's the check engine light can come on for something as simple as the gas cap not being tightened enough.

Good point. No reason to speculate what could be the problem when I will know what the problem is in a few days!

Thanks. I'll repost (with the code info) when I get the scanner and try it on my wife's G35...

Oh - yeah - I've heard about that gas cap problem before!

No problem!

I originally missed it too. Today (because of my wife's CEL yesterday) I got on and searched for the OBD II scanner...

To get the codes for my Alltrac, I had to stick a paperclip into two ports on the ECU then watch for the flashing engine light.

In the PT GT, I just turn the key a few times and a code pops up on the dash.
