My random car thought for the day
Do you like a car but would never own one, not just because you couldn't afford it? If so, why?
For instance, I gawk at the Chrysler 300 M SRT; especially in black with the gunmetal wheels. I wouldn't want to own it though, because it has four doors, and it's too big for me.

Brand new with black wheeeels. Woman got out at my sons school, rich blood red interior. I waited for her to start it, just sounded orgasmic
So mean looking, sounds great, fast.
Reason I won't own one: I don't have a need for a suv. When I do , I need three rows of seat which it doesn't have
However guys on the ih8mudforum are supercharging their 5.7l land cruiser 200 series. So maybe there is some hope there

All Domestic cars.
Love them and stare at them on the road. But will not buy one in any foreseeable future.
throw Miata, any Golf, all SUVs and lastly Genesis Sedan in there too.
Every time i see the new Genesis sedan, i would be like "damn that is a good looking reasonably priced car"
But will not buy it if it was my own $$...
Perception > Logic.

I like turtles
I love the new mustang, and even though its financially attainable I don't see myself ever owning one. Two doors would never work for me thanks to my job. Maybe one day when I have a garage, it would definitely be my "lifer" vehicle.

The Miata has pretty much replicated the Elan, without the maintenance and breakdown issues.
Pre-1970 Buick Riviera and Olds Toronado: Beautiful and unique designs, but they are really big 2-doors, which don't suit me.
Maserati Indy, Aston Martin DB and DBS: speedy cars in their day, but not enough to compensate for the rarity of parts for maintenance and repairs. OTOH, I might be convinced with the right timing and good working example of an Indy/DB/DBS.

There are a ton of cars that I like, but would never buy, even if I had the money.
I'm currently in a new Mustang, which is apparently a car that not a too many people would own and it's great, but the back seats are just for bags and jackets. So far, it's great and had about 2750 miles on it.
Too add to the list, I like the BRZ/FRS, but would never own one. The reason being is they handle well, but are slower than accords and camry's. They are fun to drive, but I find the interiors to be lacking.
Another one for me are anything made by FCA, I've recently had a terrible experience with them, so although I love the Durango and GC and was planning one convincing my parents to get one, I am no longer going to do that. I like the Challenger and the Charger, but will no longer consider them because of the terrible customer service.
Service on Kia's seem to be lacking from my dad's and my experience. No clue about Hyundai, but I hope they are better.

I could add all of MBZ's vehicles to my list of one (Range Rover). I like what they look like mostly, and admire their engineering prowess but I will never be a MBZ kinda guy.

I had a 370Z Nismo in front of me today. Despite loving a lot about it, it'll never be a car I'd buy. Why? There's a ton other two seaters I'd take over it, like a Corvette or S2000. Still probably a great car, and I love the look, just wouldn't buy one.

the question is not what cars do you want it's what cars do you admire but would never buy.

It is amazing the negative perception of American cars. Whether that reputation is earned or not, is amazing. But I see that perception everywhere

I have no negative perception on the American Muscle cars. Just don't fit my personality, and it would certainly look very odd for a skinny Asian guy.

Basically any European sports car that's either out of warranty or has more than 50k or so. Too much headache. I like to tinker with my cars, a lease won't do.
I would love a Cayman GT4, it's everything I'm looking for in a car.

Basically all offroad vehicles like Jeeps and pick-up trucks. I love one for a day but I would never own one for an extended period.
I had always loved the look of all the newer retro-look muscle cars. Until I got to drive a supercharged '14 SRT-8 Challenger, '15 Mustang GT and a '15 1LE Camaro. They all had plenty of power to pull their weight but they're so big and difficult to see out of. The high door-line and minimal rear visibility would be a problem for me as a daily. Between the three I would choose the Mustang.

I do love some great SUVs though. 4Runner, GC (SRT/Trackhawk Especially).

2016 Acura TLX
Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. I had one as a rental a couple years ago and was absolutely blown away by how nice it was. I think about it every so often, but know I would never buy one with my money. No particular reason why, but the extensive recalls don't help either.

if you got time, you should check it out. A lot of pretty girls, i mean women there.
I have some videos and pictures from their "internal reveal" about 3 weeks ago here that i cannot share. But i gotta say the new 7 is pretty impressive if tech is your thing. I really like the LED ceiling but i am not sure if BMW has gone overboard on the interior lighting with the new 7. People who are in the 20s 30s do not buy 7 series.
Performance is just up there with the S550 and interior has everything that the S class and more but I would still probably stick with the S class. Dont know why.

I totally agree though, as cool and recognizable as they are, I'd never want to actually own one. In an ironic sort of way I personally wouldn't want to own a Lamborghini Countach either, despite having plenty of power, I've heard it's a bear to drive and pretty much impossible for anyone over 6' tall to drive.
