my new (used) truck

I have basically been using just my van which I use for work for the last year. I have a car that gives me nothing buy trouble, so I am trying to sell that. I came across this truck on Craigslist. It is a 1999 Chevy Blazer. Has right around 80,000 miles. It is in very good shape and extremely clean. It is a no frills truck, no power windows or door locks, but it was in such great shape I couldn't pass it up. They sellers are in the process of moving to Germany and had to sell it quickly. While I was finalizing the deal with the guy, his wife was showing their other car to someone, all while they were having an open house to try and sell their house. Anyway, here are some pics of it. I don't like the rims on it, but that is something I can always change later on.

A lot of tread left on the tires, they look brand new

my dog enjoying her first ride in the truck

Yeah, I think I really lucked out. It's in great shape and people keep trying to tell me something has to be wrong with it. The people just needed a quick sale. They are moving Thursday so they really couldn't wait any longer.

My father has been driving S-10 Blazers for some time now. He's just had the typical GM problems come along. IIRC it's always been some sort accessory, like the AC or the radio, never the drive train. He gets pretty angry with the dealership, but what did he expect?

The few times I've driven his trucks they seem pretty solid, it's a good ride.

Cool dog too.

Thanks for your concern. Luckily you won't be driving it so you have nothing to worry about. I like the truck and I will not be selling it.

Well, at least you'll have the photo above as a nice little dose of reality when you check back in this thread. I guess there's no smiley for hard-headed, is there?

You know what, every post I have read of yours over the last week has been nothing but arguing, bitching, and all around pig headedness. If you would like, I will go and pull up many a articles on people crashing TL's and not surviving. Here is a true fact. I LIKE this truck. It's in GREAT shape. I am NOT stupid ass driver. In the event that someone hits me head on, I will be no safer in YOUR TL then in MY truck. Either way, stop looking for shit to argue about in every fucking thread you post in. It gets old quick.

One last post on this. That can't be true, because my first post in this thread was out of concern for YOUR safety. I gave you info you did not have prior to the purchase. If I didn't give s crap, I would've skipped to the next thread, so clearly not every post of mine has been arguing, bitching, and all around pig headedness. And you must be joking to say that truck is anywhere NEAR as safe as the TL. That's ridiculous on the face of it. However, enjoy the truck.

And I THANKED you for your concern. What did you do? Called me hard-headed. Just cause you have an opinion doesn't mean it is the only opinion that matters. My opinion on the TL is that it is nice in theory, but from my personal experience it is one of the least reliable cars. The amount of money my friend has had to poor into his, and continues to, is absurd. Perhaps a lemon? Maybe. Still you couldn't PAY ME any amount of money to drive one after experiencing everything he has gone through with his. However, I KNOW there are people here who love the car and I would never tell them how to spend their money. I am glad they are happy with their cars and it's nice to see a group of people gather together to enjoy them. My affection for acura's started and ended with my legend. However its the people that keep me around here. So again, thank you for your concern, but I love the truck, I am incredibly happy with my purchase and the amount I paid for it.

Damn good deal for such a clean truck.

And don't worry, despite what that idiot has to say, they are not compete death traps. My father had one (Oldsmobile Bravada, just a fully loaded version) and we got hit in the front quarter panel at 25 mph by a 92 Nissan Sentra and the truck didn't even budge. It swayed about in inch during impact, but thats it. Our truck had to damage to the steering since the wheel was turned, but her car was toatled. The front of her sentra folded like an accordian.

Thanks. I am glad to hear you guys were ok. I guess Blazer+accident is not equal to instant death. I looked at Bravada's and Jimmy's too. This one was just such a good deal I went with this one.

I said "one last post" but I can't have you call me an idiot without substantiation. Keep in mind *I* don't do crash tests, the iihs does. THEY say (and show photgraphic proof) that the truck's crashworthiness is suspect. So surely we're BOTH idiots since I'm going off their data.
My point was if I have a CHOICE of what vehicle to purchase, safety is one of those criteria (I've gotten used to this "breathing" stuff.) I choose not to spend money on vehicles with ABOVE AVERAGE death rates. If that makes me an idiot, I'd hate to see what standards YOU use! the average death rate for the Blazer is more than TWICE the TL (http://www.informedforlife.org/demos...1999to2002.pdf) , which is one reason I have a TL and that my other vehicle is a Ford Expedition. I already wished the guy well, but don't call me an idiot without factual substantiation.
