My new social distancing ride
Yeah yeah it's not a car.
2020 Yamaha EXR
110hp
It's the highest hp we can have at the lake house. It's still plenty quick. It's got their nanoXcel hull which makes it about 60 lbs lighter than a normal EX series.
May a few Riva performance upgrades once I break her in.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Very nice. In PA you can use it for 3 months? Out here in Colorado you can use it for about 5-6 months.

I miss having jetskis.
We sold ours right around the time I started driving. We had a '96 SeaDoo SPi & a '94 Yamaha WaveRunner. They weren't fast, but they were a blast to play on, and completely different in how they 'drove'. The SD had a deeper hull & was more playful, the Yam had a shallower hull & would grip as hard as you could lean it until you started getting the jet out of the water.
Putting a new battery in every year & a new starter every 2 was the killer for them, plus registration on both & a double trailer.

If I had the space to store a trailer / jetski .. yup, I'd own one. So much fun. Enjoy!

Congrats on the new jet ski. So your lake actually has a HP limit for jet skis? I have never heard of that. I only had good experience with RIVA performance. We have several of their parts on our 2004 RXP.

Do you have a noise limit on the lake too? If not I highly recommend the RIVA waterbox. We have it on the RXP and it makes the like 3cyl sound like a cammed V8 at idle.

At least the one we did you had to cut a hole in the back of the jetski for a straight exit. It was the pro series.

My questions is, how do they enforce the HP limit on the water? Do they have a list of all prohibited vehicles/watercraft somewhere?
Or is it more of an honor system?

They look up the model for the hp rating.
They did grandfather in people who had higher hp skis before they made the change a few years ago.
I get what they're trying to do We don't need some knucklehead with a crazy hp boat/ski blasting around the lake. It's a good sized lake but we have canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, etc. If they wanna go fast they can hit up the larger larger outside the development.
110hp is plenty fast for me and the kids.
Picked up a BNIB 2-person tube on LetGo for $30.

Makes sense.
Closest lake to me is Lake Conroe, which is a decent size. Definitely get yahoos in high power boats rocketing across the lake, but it's typically too choppy to do much with a traditional hulled boat. Pontoons & Tri-Toons seem to manage the chop a lot better.
On a smooth day, my grandfather's 454 cu. in. Cobalt could do about 55mph when trimmed properly. But, you had to get out there early before all the congestion builds up throughout the day.
