My mom's friend never changed her car's engine oil..
Her friend is getting a new car
Budget $40-45k
Sedan
Will probably keep it for more than +8-10 years
Comfort >>>> Sporty
Any suggestions?
I just can't think of anything else other than Genesis Sedan. How's the long-term reliability on this?

Since it debuted in '09, I don't think you can confirm long term reliability. The consensus out there is it will be very good, equal with or even past Honda standards.

^ not changing the engine oil was a joke
FAIL ME
Isn't Lexus coming out with a new ES within a year or two? Just curious. I thought that would be a nice pick too.
Yes, I just wanted to get some insights on it.
Do they still offer that 10 years warranty program? That should work pretty well for her.

I've actually known people who didn't ever change their oil, specifically a Suburban that eventually broke down at 23,000 miles. The worst part is GM covered the whole thing..

It's all good.
It's amazingly how GM covers that..... I don't know if that's a smart or dumb move by GM.

I had a buddy who bought a 1976 Celica used in 1983, then did not change the oil for about 6 years.
I found out when I asked him about changing the oil before selling the car-- he said, "Change the oil?? Is that something cars need?" No wonder he never asked me to help him with changing the oil, etc.
Lexus ES, Toyota Avalon, Acura RL...
The 4G TL and BMWs may have a stiffer ride than desired.
CTS, Buick, low-end MB E or higher end C may also work, but IDK if they are particularly reliable.

RL ftw. My , but I am biased.
FWIW, the wiki encyclopedia says, "Hyundai conceived the idea for the Genesis in 2003. The body design took three years and the total cost of the program was $500 million over a development period of 23 months. Reliability testing ran for 800,000 miles."

I'd suggest the Acura RL, Infiniti M35, Hyundai Genesis as a start. Then as well I would look into the Equus and maybe a used 5 series or 750i or a used E class (with warranties on each respectively)

^ Thanks.
She wants something brand new with adequate trunk space. TL or RL size should be good enough I believe.
Does anybody have an idea of how comfortable M35 suspension is? I have this perception of it being pretty hard. I know it's an awesome car though.
I really want her to get a Genesis sedan with that great warranty program, but she still has that bad perception of Hyundai cars... and she Korean...
I'll be telling her to make sure to check it out at least before making a final decision. So, hopefully she'll fall in love with it once she gets to see it and drive it.

^ I know. I mean that's how bad Hyundai cars were Pre-Genesis era.
Now, it's entirely different brand! Props to Hyundai.

Genesis Sedan (1st choice for sure!)
Nissan Maxima (pretty good choice too)
Mazda 6 (I think she deserves some more luxury car at her age )
Acura TL (too ugly to suggest)
Acura RL (I'm curious about the price point as well)
Acura TSX (maybe)
Toyota Avalon & Lexus ES (good choices!)
GS(when is the new one coming out? this year or next year. the one that with some darth vader looking front grille)

Probably doesnt meet reliability requirements, but the VW CC is a nice car. I know for VW's the suv's are pretty unreliable. I know the golf is a pretty stable platform, but who knows about the CC.

Currently Post-Acura
CPO an option or just new? Cus I'd suggest a CPO Infiniti M35(x). It's the successor to my I30. And that car was just made to be a cushion, no sporting prowess there.

Also Lexus's ES is a good option, however if she can stretch a little bit she should looks into the GS350!
As far as German goes, she should look at a 528i and an E-Class and maybe the new Audi A6. With a bit of negotiation she'll have a nicely equipped car for a good price. However the A6 may be a tad to aggressive looking for her.
