Well, gentlemen...what is the lesson that we have learned here today?
CL Type S? Mustang? M3? Corvette? Ferarri? Viper? McLaren?
Think you have the fastest? There is always a bigger fish out there and when he find you, you're gonna be his bitch!

of course should I ever happen to be able to afford the Batmobile, I'll be able to whip all yo' assez!
The turbine up front and the jetfire exhaust add a nice touch.

Why doesn't Ford put that 5.4L "Lightning" motor in the Mustang GT?

I don't think it would fit properly. The Cobra R has a DOHC 5.4L and it has a huge dome on the hood. The DOHC 4.6L makes a decent amount of power anyway.

The Syclone was the faster vehicle, fairly light- 280hp....did 0-60 in approx 4.9sec. The Typhoon was a bit slower did low 5's (5.2-5.4sec)...They were both cool though, the Syclone sold ok- the Typhoon only received cult status well after it was discontinued in 1993 (I believe)...remember it was almost $30k back in the day.

. Damn that why those truck are pretty much rare today, and IMO 30K for that truck in that day is expensive, but it's still a cool rare truck...

They didn't make too many and I'm sure many of them are off the road by now (for one reason or another)....the Syclone was around $23k, that was a ton (91-92) of $$ back then for that little pickup- was very exclusive.

On the plus side, shoe horning a hot engine into the S series is very managable. From a 4.3 V6 to a 383, all you have to do is put in the time. S-series trucks make a nice project. Maybe that's what I will do with mine after I get a car.

if you guys only knew what you were talking about... I'll bet you didn't know that a SVT Lightning can kill a SVT Cobra in the quarter mile?@#$ crazy huh? the article was in the march and april issues of car and driver. go pick it up and peep for yourselves. the lightning is quick. one night when i went to sears point i was fortunate enought to see 3! there was this one white trash looking mofo driving one so i took it upon myself to socialize. he said that there was a lightning meet and told me that there were only about 40,000 made starting in 1998 with that body style. this second gen beast LOOKS and performs better then its older brother. my advise is if you see one, drop that shit into "1" and floor it till it bounces off the rev limiter.

Correct, they were both powered by a 280HP turbocharged and intercooled Vortec 4.3 liter V6 (a variant of the stock motor for the S-10/S15) with 4 speed auto and full-time AWD. Damn fast.

Yes, and with the SC on it, it has a much flatter (nicer) power band.

Well I didn't know those things were that fast. I'll get a new clutch in about 3 weeks if I the car doesn't sell after the AutoFocus Ad. I'm going to keep the car and look into turbo charging it if it doesn't sell in 3 weeks! Want to sell it, but then again don't . They got new turbos out by autowerks which make the stock '98 M3 put up numbers such as 380bhp w/ boost set to 7 psi.

After making some serious money today, I think I might be in the market for a new M3 if business keeps up like this

Cyclone was a manual. Kid in my school had a Typhoon... very cool truck. Too bad they made them so close to the end of the model generation, otherwise there would be a lot more on the road.

This is kinda scary...

I hadnt noticed this topic until TODAY... yet...

Last night I had a dream that I was racing a red Lighting and when we went into a turn the dude rammed right into the side of me busting my car apart and he went on his merry way.

Partly correct...

The Typhoon was rated at 285 HP for some reason. Both rated at 360 lb/ft. The 4.3L was a pre-vortec variant. Basically the 5.7L with two cylinders chopped off.

They both used a Mitsubishi TD06-20G turbo with a Garrett Liquid/Air IC and a too small heat exchanger. The used the HD 400 transmission with a viscous transfer case.

Closer: No Sy/Ty were made manuals from the factory. I have heard of a few attempts but most were dropped. Actual production numbers were (from what I recall) 2991 Syclones for the '91 model year and right around 4600 Typhoons spanning the '92/'93 model year.

M3sins-

You should never race with a bad clutch. To give you an ex. I raced my friend's CL-S, and lost b/c my clutch was slipping. Under normal conditions I usually beat him by 1-3+ depending on how good of a launch I get.

Yeah,

My girlfriend in high school back in '88 used to drive that same blazer. Many problems resulted in her trading in for an Acura. What a great decision! POS IMHO. You may be able to edge me out on the straights, but not the curves. Did you also have hydraulics on that Ghetto mobile? Wait til I supercharge mine, and I'll literally be eating up your blazer. QUESTION. Why would you buy a lowered pickup truck that can't go offroad or tow anything. The lightning has less interior room then my RX7. And no matter what you do they will never come close to the handling of a sports car. (50/50 weight distribution and low cener of gravity) Why not just buy a sportcar? Just wondering.

You should get your facts straight. First of all the typhoon came out in 92-93 so what your girlfriend had was a blazer. The typhoon had 285 turbocharged h.p and awd. My typhoon was pulling over 500hp to the ground on pump gas the best quarter mile time was 11.3's on street tires and pump gas. So when you have your supercharger let me know, my buddy, who has the truck now will gladly race your M3.
