My beater was parked in my driveway all weekend and I notice a quarter sized oil spot on the driveway. Is a leak that big a big deal? It is a 1989...I just don't want to put ANY money into it!

not a big deal at all. just make sure to keep an eye on the level and don't let it get too low

ALL our old cars leak shit, from power steering fluid, to brake fluid, my suburban leaks gas (not god ) oil, etc etc

A quarter size after 2-3 days isn't anything at all. It's an old car, that's what they do.

HAHA... I used to put a pan under one of my Pintos back in the 80's to catch the oil from the rear main seal and pour it back into the engine

Oh, the days of buying cars for $50....

I think you'll be ok... Check to see if you can tell where the oil is coming from. Some stuff (like valve cover gaskets) are no big deal to fix (or leave alone). Knowing where the oil is coming from will explain how big of a deal it is...

My old VW doesn't leak oil, it's marking it's territory

It looks like its coming off of the frame.....and I can't really see anyplace that its coming from. My dad says I have to park it in the street because he doesn't want oil spots on his driveway. I'm gonna get through winter with it then sell it! I need an import to drive every day!

Put a big peice of cardboard down on the ground (double it up by folding it), and weigh it down so the wind doesn't blow it away... Change cardboard every once and awhile, and you won't leave spots on the driveway.... BTDT.

My 88 Accord leaks more oil than that and it does not seem to be hurting it. When I get it changed it is never very low.

I would not worry about it if I were you.

Yes, it is... But I think that the speedy dry stuff that you buy at autozone is cheaper... (or maybe it's the other way around)...
