has anyone had experience with these b18's knock sensors? someone suggested i remove my knock sensor and see if the problem goes away and sure enough.. no power loss... i think i may have to get the car tuned after all.
This also feeds into my incling that the car has had internal work done. There is no way i should have be dead even with a high comp LS/vtec hatch but i was.

Racer
see bud I told ya, a tune will make a world of difference. the GSR I previously had was probably #1 of the B-series I've dealt with. my LS/VTEC was a ton of fun but had some hiccups, my B16s were just torqueless nightmares. but not the GSR it never let me down and ran like a raped ape whenever called to do so.
I did wanna ask you though. what transmission do you have connected to your GSR?

She died today
I was on my way to class today at 6pm and my car was hesitating again but this time more severe than ever.
light turns red so i roll to a stop.
car is idling fine so i figure it was another hiccup.
light turns green
as i proceed to accelerate the car begins sputtering and the idled gets real low (hasn't moved at all), that oil light turns on and i flip the power off and figure my oil pump failed.
its raining, traffic is packed and i am in the MIDDLE lane
i begin making calls to get a ride and 30 minutes later i muster up the courage to try and start the car again, i first prime the fuel pump and it primes just fine then i turn the key and it starts!! not the oil pump..
i limp my way home and it dies again sputtering as im starting from a stand still at the gate. i let it rest for 5 minutes and i manage to limp my way through my neighborhood and back home.
Any suggestions?

I want to say look at the fuel system, but the oil light coming on is puzzling me. I hope you find the issue and its a quick and cheap fix.

replaced the ignition coil and it runs. love it when the first diagnosis is the correct one. i will report back in the morning. Everything else looked really good in the distributor, also found out it is an integra type-R distributor...

Looks like you're still learning a lot about this car. Even though it's been giving you problems, it must be kind of cool learning something new about the car every time something goes wrong.

little late to the thread, thanks for sharing Miguel. I was gonna suggest a B20 VTEC frankenstein build now, but you're probably look for a fairly stock setup.... hey, it's just a suggestion
Pretty much, you learn the most from mistakes, your own or otherwise. Even doing basic things, you can mess up a lot.
Like the first time I ever did plugs on my Integra. Luckily they were NGKs which came pregapped but I had no clue how much to tighten it. Goodbye threads. Hey, I did put anti-seize on it though! derp.
Just like the spark plugs, my rotors probably suffered the same fate. No torque wrench? Fuggit, tighten it until it starts resisting too much.
Also, when loosening bolts/studs/nuts, especially on a 15 year old car with 160k miles, you should probably use PB blaster or something similar. Otherwise the drain plug on your tranny literally breaks loose and takes a piece of the tranny case with it. In times like those, you learn a lot, especially how awesome JB Weld is.

it is a bit of a learning experience but everything has been fairly small. (in comparison to the TL)
i rebuilt the 6mt on that thing twice.. talk about a pain in the ass.
overall the car has been reliable.
i really cannot wait to start the paint work, it will help me get my mind off of things since it is such a monotonous task.

Out of curiosity, have you done any anti-theft stuff?
After the repaint I suspect it'll be ripe for thieves, and sometimes an insurance check doesn't replace your blood, sweat, and tears. Just a thought.

I loved having a removable wheel with locking hub in my Civic. People at school thought I was crazy though, but in my first 48hrs of owning it someone tried to steal it right in my driveway (this was back in NY).
