Mustang needed a stablemate
I shouldn't be allowed to browse Craigslist... Read the description and thought to myself "It's kinda cool, I'll go look at it"... Did I need it? Nah... Am I going to enjoy driving it in the winter and towing the jet-ski's with it? Heck yeah...
It's a 1991 Explorer XL. 2 door, 5-speed, and push button 4x4 with Low Range. Best part is it's got a hair over 67,000 miles (Came up from the states a few years ago). Needs very minor things (shocks are a bit tired, passenger arm rest is a bit loose) but I'll enjoy working on it as it's prettty DIY friendly and parts are dirt cheap. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps9f4beb60.jpg https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...psbf809a44.jpg Oh and don't worry, it doesn't have Firestones on it  |
nice, that should be a fun one in the snow!

Any rust? I know the early '90s Explorers had some rust issues, especially down near the side skirts and side frame.
But nice addition. That should get you places. :) |
I'm not sure which state it came in from but I can only assume it was something southern. The underside is very clean with most of the rust being on the wheels  A can of white wheel paint should take care of that.
This is what the underside looks like: That wetness is fresh rustproofing, done about a month ago. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...ps892f0d2d.jpg For $900 I'm happy  |
Nice pickup! I'm surprised you got anything running for $900 off CL. :what:
Looks like it should make for a nice partner with the Mustang. Will this be your DD now? |
Looks good. $900? Hell yes! I hope she runs well for you.

Nice. You don't see too many (any) 2 door SUV's anymore. I remember seeing this and the Jimmy/Blazer all over the roads years ago.
|
Congrats. Nice pick up. I had a '97 Explorer 2 door. It was a good vehicle.

Aman, I wouldn't say it'll be my DD but I'll feel more comfortable parking this in the parking lot at work based on the way these blind baboons drive around the parking lot. I consider myself very fortunate that my Mustang hasn't been bumped into yet. My selective parking process must be working  |

^^^ +1 |
I had a 91 4 door years a while back. Very reliable engine. Check the Explorer forums for how to clean the MAF sensor. The only trouble I had with mine was annoying wind noise from both front doors and they are known for the passenger side torsion bar bushing melting because of how close they are to the exhaust which makes them impossible to align. Good luck!

seems like a good buy .
