MTV Cribs Whips/Dubs episode this week

Did anyone catch it? New episode. My question was, the segment with the chick test driving a SLR. Next Motorsports was "hooking" it up with rims, stereo, blah blah blah. Anyway, she asks him how much is costs and he said:

After we're done with it, about $700,000.

WTF!! Are SLR's rising in value or was he shooting figures out his ass. . .?

well people on that show price things outrageously, they said a black gallardo with custom rims cost close to $250000....

Kind of like how Mike Jones claimed he'd dropped over $120k into his 645ci. That's nuts. Stupid rappers and basketball players. I love seeing what they drop it for when they have to liquidate.

Twista stretched out a 300c and said "Maybach watch out". I was laughing when he said that.

Most of those cars are nice, but they make them look ugly.

They ALWAYS seem to be a little generous with what the vehicles cost, as other's have noted. I don't understand that mentality, but then again I am not a rap star from the hood, and I try to stay low key. I suppose the temptation is tough for a lot of these guys, they go from nothing to having a few million and blow it quicker then they made it, there are of course a few exceptions. There doesn't seem to be a retirement plan for a lot of these rap stars so less then 10 years after there big hit, there left with nothing but memories.

There was actually an interesting article in Worth magazine this month about sports and rap stars who come from a poverty ridden back ground, its tough for them to cope with there new wealth and manage it to create more wealth. They are faced with inexperience in dealing with any money and a lot of peer pressure.

But yea, they are full of shit with what they claim to spend on cars.

it seems to be the worst with rappers, i saw something on tv on how a rookie rapper usually gets a $1mil contract and by the time he has paid his manager, bought himself a car and a crib and hooks his friends up he's left with like $30k and no assurance youre even going to be popular or be able to record another cd..
