Modifying Car Seat

Mom bought a 2010/maybe 11 VW Jetta TDI wagon because she travels a lot and wanted to get better mileage. She likes the car but says the drivers seat is hurting her back due to the bottom cushion being too long and elevating her knees too high. Now she isn't short but the bottom does come out a bit far (knees just make it over) and she is used to her old RX350 which obviously has a higher sitting seat.

She has driven other cars and not had this problem but refuses to drive the car now. Can we do anything about it? If just the back part of the bottom cushion could come up or the bottom could be made shorter she thinks she would be ok. Problem is the seat doesn't adjust independently front to rear. Is there another seat we could easily swap and have matched or can someone modify the cushion?

Thanks
