Mercedes is! Lexus excels in customer service, luxury, and reliability. The only areas Mercedes lacks is reliability I believe, the rest is all good. They have a huge variety of cars, and i think all of their cars are just gorgeous. Also no doubt Mercedes has more prestige than Lexus. I also think Lexus is an old mans car, not sporty, just very comfortable. Thats my take on it =D

Also the AMGs

Mercedes is way more prestigious in the minds of most consumers then Lexus. I have no scientific proof to back this up however.

Lexus is kinda boring right now, can't even compete with the models mercedes has.

matters what your lookin for

if your an old geezer and need a great reliable car, thats boring as shit, go with lexus

if your lookin for some more fun get an amg model from benz, if u want an even better handing car go check out an ///m from bmw

but u cant beat lexus quality, reliability, and customer service

Mercedes has their prestigious history, where Lexus is a brand only 15 years old.
Lexus also has very boring designs. Nothing like what Mercedes is turning out. They don't lack luxury though as they are on the cutting edge of technology, which is cause for some of their reliability issues.

I think Lexus overall are better built cars, but I think MB definitely has an edge in regards to image

That is a hard question. I'll have to ride the fence on this one.

BTW, where is the poll?

Lexus makes more reliable cars and takes better care of their customers.

Mercedes makes kickass engines, decent designs, and overall a better aura of "bitch I'm better than you" than any other mass produced brand out there.

Mercedes wins. Lexus ain't surpassing it in the prestige field until everyone who was alive before the time of Lexus' birth stops buying cars and/or dies. Well, that was an approximation, my guess is another 10-30 years.

AMG, im a bit biased. My family has owned both and I would be lying if I said both MB & Lexus dont have their share of problems, just fewer with Lexus.

It was a hard choice for me between an IS300 & modding the crap out of it or my C32AMG.

Mercedes Benz all the way.

Lexus makes a great car no doubt.

Germans obviously spend more on input when it comes to production of their cars and the materials they use... and it shows

110% agree...

MB is all about the name. Even more so than BMW IMHO. It just screams "expensive" car to the consumer.

But I just wouldn't buy one. Too much to maintain, the reliability has gone to crap... You're paying for a name.

The only Mercedes I would probably buy right now, if I had the current financial capabilities, would be an SL. The rest of the Benz line I could take or leave.

Really? You would not consider an SLK? CL? E500?

Can't fit in the SLK.......

Might consider the CL or E..........as long as they had the three magic letters AMG in the title

I mean Mercedes has some good stuff, but there are other things I would choose over them, especially for some of the pricing.

Lexus definitely has better reliability and their cars are built to last (just like Honda engines). As for customer service, that may depend on the dealership & the car you service. I've received much better service from my AMG than with my dad's experience with Lexus or MB.

AMGs are definitely built a bit better in my experience. I've had only software updates and creaking sway bar linkage replaced under warranty over 40k miles. Other non-AMG C class owners have been plagued with more issues than I as well as my dad's E500 which loaded with electrical issues from the day he drove it off the lot and was recently rated 2nd or 3rd least reliable car.

as well as mine, Lexus is always ragging on Acura for its boring style, but shit take a look at their line up, ES = exact copy of Camry, GS is a 6 year old car, going on 7, LS is just a big ass bland boat, and the GX and LX are exact toyota copys. IS300 looks like a damn beefed up corolla, tiny car for 32k. Sorry, when im 65 maybe their cars will appeal to me =D

Lexus has better cars, great quality, reliability and comfort. I just wished they made sportier cars, with better performance.

Overall, Lexus > Mercedes.

I think MB beats Lexus hands down. MB's styling tends to stand the test of time while Lexus lacks in that dept. Lexus cars tend to look really outdated once they are about 6-7 years old while a MB still has a certain look to it.

Most older Lexus' look dated once the years pass with the exception of the SC300/400, '93-'97 GS300, and LX470 (I'm partial to it).

Lexus makes a great car, but until they can find a way to make their cars look like this 50 years later, they still have some catching up to do.

now personally I like the old design(prior to 05) SLKs The HUGE Mercedes symbol is overdone in the front end in the new ones.

That new Benz CLS is hot. for it being a sedan it has some intresting lines.

I live in LA and I pass by Bevery Center and cruise by 3rd street a lot (pretty rich areas) and I never ever fucking see a Lexus. MBs BMWs are littered in the streets, lots of porsches too. Very rarely do i see a Lexus, it seems people that actually have the money for these cars all go MB, BMW for their sedans. (mostly Es and 5s and 3s) Lexus a notch below MB, BMW to me, boring ass cars, uninspiring, doesnt have the presence when you pull up. Sorry I dont see what the hell the buzz about Lexus is. They can make a car thats reliable and have great customer service, ok i give that to them. But shit tell me, does MB have shitty service? I hardly doubt that.

Acura > *, duh!

No seriously, I'd pick MB over lex... MB are more refined than lex. I can still see Toyota's presence when I see the interior of a Lexus. Also MB is known all over the world as a prestigious brand.

Of course I'd pick bmw over either.

ahh 300SL, one of the most amazing cars ever...
I'd love to have that and a 1964 e-type 4.2 Jag in my garage.
