MEET ABU DHABI’S NEW POLICE CAR – IT CAN RECOGNIZE PEOPLE AND READ PLATES ON THE GO

If you think this is just a regular and conventional police car, you could not have been more wrong. Abu Dhabi’s Police Department proudly took the veils off of the latest vehicle that has joined their squad; a hypercar that is worth $3.4 million and comes equipped with a surveillance system that is quite tech savvy. It has been created by W Motors that moved to Emirates from Lebanon shortly after it was launched. The Lykan HyperSport is being promoted as the first Middle Eastern supercar. Fans of F&F franchise would remember it from Fast & Furious 7 as well.





It features a 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six capable of cranking out 740hp and is capable of going from rest to a speed of 62Mph in 2.8 seconds while offering a top speed of 245Mph. It has been imparted an awesome surveillance system that is made up of cameras created by ekin.

Ekin, the company, says, “’Lykan HyperSport, one of the world’s fastest super cars is equipped with ekin Patrol, thus becomes the smartest car in the world and is transformed into a ‘Robocop’. ekin Patrol is capable of reading license plates of moving and stopping cars and monitors the speed of surrounding cars even on oncoming traffic. It is also capable of recognizing faces at the highest speeds. Further it stores all license plates, speeds and faces. Science fiction films come true with the help of ekin Patrol, which is designed for the policemen of the future.”




The system was developed after a tiresome research that spanned over two years by the company’s R&D in collaboration with road safety specialists and police forces. Ekin has further described it Patrol product as ‘the first truly intelligent patrol unit in the world.’

The company claims that the system mounted on the car is the state of art and a unique product that is capable of scanning all number plates of vehicles within the effective range of 180 degrees and can further match the speeds of vehicles to their number plates. The system is also capable of transmitting GPS coordinates of the vehicle to police/traffic control center and can also communicate with enforcement units.
