Maseratis so cheap??

Why are the Maseratis so cheap? I thought they were in the same league as Ferraris and Bentleys. Link:

I know the dealer who is selling them so they are legit. The reason behind the low value is, questionable reliability/build quality, mediocre performance, extremely expensive repairs when they are required and overall a general lack of interest in these cars - low demand equals low resale value.

That said if you like those cars, those are a great deal and Val(the guy who owns Bul Automotive) only sells cars in outstanding condition.

Wow...considering that Maseratis are basically Ferraris underneath, those are some good deals.

They're great cars but you better be able to afford another $25,000 in maintenance and repairs. Just my two cents. I REALLY would love a used Quattroporte, but I'm realistic.

I think it's a hit or miss sometimes with these cars...My mother in-law drives a Quattroporte and in three years of ownership, she's only had to replace the horn and a window switch. I've driven it and it's a lovely car to drive.

what , the parts are expensive or the service, because if you know how to turn a wrench, you could do your won work. It's not like you need toi pull the engine to change a few components if need be. They are front engine, right?

Maybe, but what if you have a tranny problem, which i hear is a weak link on this car. I bet thats gonna cost a pretty penny.

If it would be for the killer repairs/service on the used ones I think more people would drive them.

I've been following quattroporte prices and it's been amazing. They just weren't very popular cars and weren't that much "fun". Also, the tank for MANY things has taken a dump!!

I've never owned a car that had problems with the horn or window switches. That right there already scares me. If it's the little things like that that fail, I can only imagine a downward spiral.

It's true, the quattroporte's we more of a fashion statement with very high quality interior materials and fitment, but otherwise lackluster performance, easily beaten by cheaper Aston Martins, Porshes, ect.

You could maybe do the simple stuff, but these are very complicated cars. Parts prices are huge $$$ of course, but if these cars are anything like their Ferrari roots they will be difficult to diagnose problems on; and try getting your hands on accurate factory service literature.

Forget diagnosing any of the computer controlled subsystems without dealership help as well.

These cars don't have rock-solid reliability to begin with, neither do Ferraris.

Another big factor at this stage I'd assume is the lack of qualified independent shops available....due to the relatively recent introduction of the models themselves. That means paying dealership prices for service and repairs.

I was looking at these things for a while. They do not hold their value well, so I was watching a bunch on eBay and locally. But after you factor in upkeep and how much the car would cost to repair, even for little things, not worth it.

It's the car version of The Money Pit...

Nice cars. I really like the design of some of them. But the maintainance cost, and the fact that there is hardly any places to take them to get repairs done makes them less desirable. And even if you can "turn a wrench" like Rondy said, where do you get info from? I would be a bit uneasy.

In particular with an F1 style transmission, not only is it expensive to maintain, its probably really easy to screw up and then even more expensive to repair.

If I have a chance I'll swing by Bul Automotive and see what he has to say, he loves S2k's and would be very flexible with a trade.

factor in maintenence, future expenses, and it could still be worth the $$. if you have the means, it could make for a great 3rd car.

Maseratis depreciate worse than used Benzos. Beautiful fit and finish but there are more reliable, appealing cars in that price range.

because until fiat bought them masarati didn't have a good car since the early 60's. theres alot of stigma left over from the bi-turbo's.

think thats a deal go look at lotus elise

I like Maserati. Some of their newer stuff is probably underrated and might even represent a bargain buy as far as Italian exotic cars go. I'm mean that new GranTurismo-S is one bad ass looking car for what they want for one, compared to a Ferrari or Lambo I mean.

The new GranTurismo looks AMAZING! I saw one in person and was like wow.

There is also quite a few Lotus Elise's under 30 grand that look tempting. Probably a hell of a lot more reliable too.

Masaratis are great if you're a awesome mechanic or "excellent with a wrench."
but you guys think like Ferraris are expensive to maintain or keep up, naw you haven't see squat.
it's a great looking car, and PERFECT(probably best sounding) exhaust note. but you can't go into the dealer and say I got a 08 Masarati i need such and such part and they'll have it in stock and you can go home bolt it up and you're ready to go. you gotta wait a few weeks. once i comes in . Apply at the bank for the loan for the parts. provided part loan goes through go give dealer check for parts. then go home with parts and cry and bolt it up.
