M3 Test Drive

So Adrienne took the day off of work and we went to the local BMW dealership to check out a 02 SMG M3 they had. Walked in and the guy threw us the keys and said be back in an hour (shocked the shit out of me). I love this car, if I can swing it, this WILL be my next car. It's exactly what I want, a daily driver that I won't have to do anything to (other then some PSS9's) and can take to the track on the weekends. I suprisingly really liked the SMG, everyone said I'd hate it the first time I drove it and that it'd be finicky, this thing was smoooooth. i messed around w/ the shift points quite a bit and on the fast setting this thing shifts HARD and QUICK, exactly as it should. The handling is amazing, I took it around a few quick bends at about 80 and it holds it's ground. Even w/ the traction control off it's a very very easy to control car in a slide. The best thing was the wife loved it. She got to drive it for a good 20 minutes and I even caught her doing almost 100 a few times The car just goes and goes and goes. They didn't have any verts so I didn't get to do a comparison. but I definately think a coupe is the way I'll go. White w/ that light brown interior on stock wheels painted black

What also amazed me was the difference in east and west coast prices. I looked up a car identical back home and it was about 8K cheaper.

I thought you guys were saving for a kid.

I am glad you enjoyed the M3, I still have not had a chance to go test drive one, but after reading your review, I might go next week. I hope they throw me the keys, but don't think that'll happen.

Know what, you only live once. If you can do it now, do it. But you know its not gonna look as hot with a baby seat in back kicking your chair.

Good choice, my buddy has one with the smg and until recently my other friend had the v8 S4, both are fun as hell to drive, the S feels a little more refined, where the M felt like a race car. The SMG feels just like a manual, even has that little clutch slippage on take offs, and the shifts are nice and crisp. Did you use the launch mode?

good to see you can pull the card on me looking into M3's as well as S4's, G35C (which i've basically ruled out I think) 300C/Magnum SRT-8's and a few other options. My statement was more to the fact that you seem to think i'm dreaming. As I said, you don't know me, so don't act like you do

but i'm sorry that you seem to be jealous that a 23 year old (I'll be 24 when I strongly look into getting it, does that make you sleep a little better) is considering a 40K BMW and you aren't (you must hold a real grudge to all the youngins that are driving nicer cars then you); relax sparky, live your life the way you want. I'll never comment on it, other then the fact that you need to pull the dick out of your ass and put it in some pussy with a pulse for once

but it's good to see I have such a big fan on this board

awww pothead got upset

your in la la land..... and trust me Scottie Pie I do NOT have a single ounze of jealously in my body towards you or what you drive... I just like seeing you get all upset like a little girl who just lost her training bra.

P.S. I warned you about slandering me before, but I guess you forgot that it is against the law to slander a funeral director. if you really wish to never drive anything other than Geo Metro the rest of your life, keep making accusations.

you warned me about slandering you before? What was it exactly you said to me first? Keep making accusations. Just another example of a boy who can talk shit but can't take any "If you really wish to be driving nothing but a Geo metro, keep making accusations" You are such a puss dude

How exactly did you just own me? ( I mean do you really think people aren't going to read what's been said and just see that you posted a picture and that it means you must of owned me?) i'm sorry your "I'm smitler, does anyone need a beating" shit doesn't work on me. I figured you'd give up after trying a dozen or so times

ultimately, I think I put to much effort into this reply, when I really think about it; it should look like this:

I looked at the same car on a lot back home for 40K and they were willing to deal. In 5-6 months when i'm ready i'm hoping I can snag one w/ relatively low miles for mid to high 30's. They had an 02 M5 w/ 40K for 56K

Yeah, the price was a little steep but the car was in great condition and it's the dealership in Ashburn... I'm sure they have that sticker price on there hoping some idiot comes in not knowing anything and signs on the spot. Considering the location, I'd say they have a good chance of getting that price.

Anyway, I agree that it drove really well. Scott swears I was going 100 a few times but I did NOT realize it. That's scary, actually... I could see myself getting into trouble in that car. I did ask the dealer about the child restraint system in the back, and practiced getting in and out of the car holding my purse like a baby... seeing if I could get back there easily and all. Y'all shoulda seen Scott's face... it was like a kid who dropped his ice cream on the ground.

But all in all, I LOVED the SMG; that was the first time I've been able to drive a manual car without making burning smells. I'm a good driver but I've never had the opportunity to definitively learn a manual transmission... neither of my parents drive stick and I've never asked any friends to teach me; that'd just be rude to fuck up someone else's car, IMO.

Isn't that what a rental car is for?

Theres a sucker born every minute

When you start looking again, I would look at autotrader to get some ideas or possibly find a good one. A friend of mine was actually in the same situation and he found a loaded 2003 M3 with 12,000K on it for $44,000 (I think) a few months ago. Theres deals out there to be found....except at the actual BMW dealers.

Yeah, the prices on german sports cars out here in the east is sometimes funny compared to the west coast prices...

I read somewhere that back in the 80's and early 90's that HALF of all porsches imported into the US were sold in SoCal

BTW...If you really can afford it, I'd get it.

When the new one is out...Im getting it.

Fuck the dealership though....your getting assraped with what they want.

I paid $44k for the 2005 fully loaded, minus the SMG with about 5k miles...Private party is the way to go.
