And thats because the CL was rated higher than what most of us get. The M3 just misses the cut-off.

if you have basic knowledge of how to drive a stick you should do fine.. my friend got a 03 M3 and pretty much learned how to drive stick w/ it.. although he made the car jerk quite a bit when he first got it he got the hang of it pretty quick

good choice, you will luv the coupe

you might want to learn to drive manual on a friend's car first. something just doesnt sound right about learning to drive manual on a brand new M3.

dood i had to learn stick on the 330ci, not an easy car to learn on. Im sure the M3 is worse but it can be done. My advice is just not give up, i was close to.

You dont like SMG though?

I might have missed it but what color options did you do with?

Oh and have fun with the wait, it drove me nuts for the 330. But its kinda cool that you can track it and its nice knowing they are building a car JUST for you.

oh and congrats you lucky bitch!

SMG

Nothing like a real manual.

And my offer stands to learn on my BMW. Its not easy either so going to the M3 shouldn't be a big deal. I would be afraid learning on a new M3 though

Who cares what a filthy whore thinks.........a chick who fucks you because of your car? Weak.

And if you buy a car based on what a chick might think of it, that's even worse.

Anyway, don't get SG/Imola........because that's what I have.

Redneck’s might drive the older 70’s Vette’s and they’ll most likely be painted several different colors, but I don’t think you’ll find too many of them driving a 50,000 dollar C6.
I'm not 50 yet, but I can see myself getting one in a year or two.

But NOT this one...

What kind of problems?
I’ve been researching the C6 and I haven’t heard of any major systemic problem.
Sure, a few dead clutches, mysterious electrical problems and dead batteries, but nothing that I’ve seen over and over again.

Yuppie…. I can’t believe you’re getting an M3 and don’t know how to drive stick.
Didn’t the dealer think this was a bit odd?

my dad had to test drive the M for me

yeah the SMG is a piece of crap at this time in BMW quest to build a "stick" with no clutch pedal. I get Car and Driver and Motor Trend both tested the new Z4 3.0 with a SMG and they were bitching about what a POS that SMG was. they said they'd take a regular clutch pedal over that anyday of the week.
I'd say in 5 years the SMG might be perfected but at this time it's a turd.

now as far as learning to drive stick on a M3. that's bad news. . I was lucky my dad had an old beater 88 Civic DX. He didn't care too much if I thrashed the clutch a little.(which i did ) but my sister tried to learn on a 94 Mustang GT (collectors edition with leather and tons of goodies), she got so pissed she got out of the car slammed the door and said i'm never driving this damn car or any stick again.(and she hasn't) IMO once you've mastered the lower horsepower cars it's easier to move up and take on the higher hp sticks. if you start off with something in the 300-400 hp range like a M3 or CTS-V or last gen Z06 it's tough to start out on.

You are going to have this as your DD in the winter also? I hope not, because driving a M3 in the snow would be rediculously stupid.

I wish ya luck in learning how to drive it. Dont go bragging or racing until you can drive it sufficiently, because all the kids will claim they beat a M3.

um... i haven't decided just yet. for now, i'm keeping the CL even after i take delivery of the M, so the CL may just be my winter car. my mom needs a car tho, she's still using my old '90 Accord so i might just give her my CL as she would never buy a car unless her current car died. so if i hand my CL down to her, then i'll just throw some snows on the M. a couple guys on the m3 forums drive their m's year round putting the snow's on in the winter... i'm sure it'll still drive like crap, but at least an improvement over the stock tires...

i know what u mean about keeping my cool down until i learn how to drive stick. i already see myself going from 2nd to 5th by mistake during a race.
either way, i'm trying to not drive like a dick anymore as it is...

Accidentally shifting from 2nd to 5th isn’t too much of a problem.
Accidentally DOWN-SHIFTING from 5th to 2nd…now there’s the problem you don’t want to have.

I would hate to see how much all new valves for that car would cost.

Unless they can prove you caused the fault, the cost will still come out of BMW's pocket due to warranty though.
