Love Mercedes Tour (Ride and Drive Event) No 56k!!!!!
Well I don't know if you guys remember, but a while back someone posted a link to the Love Mercedes Tour. I ended up going this weekend and had a blast. I got to drive all kind of Mercedes Vehicles and the best part was that you could drive them as hard as you wanted. Here are some pictures of the event.
The first picture shows the layout of main tent. I don’t have a scanner so I took a pic of the map. Anyway in the main tent they had all sorts of free giveaways, everything from free drinks (non-alcoholic) to free massages. I didn't want to get on the waitlist for the massage so I passed on it. I did enjoy all the free drinks though.
As you walked outside of the main tent, you were greeted by a row of cars. These were just there for you to look at and sit in.
You can see the Hollywood Racetrack in the background.
Directly Behind the cars, (where I took the pics from) were the actual driving courses. They had three tracks but you could only drive two of them. The first was The 4-Matic Experience. Here you got to drive the S and E class. The next Course was The Off-Road Adventure. This one was driven by professionals and you could only ride along. Here they had the G and M class. But perhaps the best track and car selection was the Fun In The Sun track. Here you got to drive the CLK Coupe, CLK Cabriolet, the new SLK Roadster, and the most fun of them all the SL 500!
Here's a layout of the tracks and a description
These next 4 pictures were from The 4-Matic Experience Track.
This was the beginning of the track. The guy in the hat told you when to go.
A closer shot. (Read the signs)
This was the water truck making sure that part of the track was wet!
Another shot of the water tanker.
These next pictures were from The Off-Road Adventure Track.
You can't really tell but they would balance the truck on two wheels and let the front one fall.
Finally the last track. I wasn't able to get that many pictures but this is where you were able to drive the SL500, SLK roadster, CLK sedan and Cabriolet.
Read the sign!!!!
All in all this was a very fun experience. I wish I would have taken more pictures but I was caught up in the moment. So I forgot that I even had my camera. Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed the pics!

I went to an Audi ride-n-drive when I had my A4. It was awsome. You got to drive thier cars around the track flat out. Then you got back in your car and drove it in the rain, and then on a road course. It really made me believe in my Audi.

Three Wheelin'
What's wierd is that I signed up for the one in NJ here, and I work for the company that runs these events. I don't usually get to drive the Benz's since I am a dedicated Maybach Guy.
But this looks like a great time, going with some friends. gonna see if they can be a passenger and video tape the rides.
WHO'S GOING TO THE NJ ONE ? ? ?

That looks EXACTLY like the C-Class one i went to at Rye Playland in April.
That tent is a carbon copy of what i saw there.
However at the one i went to you could only drive the C-Class and nothing else. You got to ride in a C32 as they took you full speed around a special track. It was a fun time.
This time though it looks like there's 2 track you can ride on, Sedan and vert Coupe and that off road one is like the C32 drive where you can't drive but you get to ride along.
Going next month to this one with the same group of friends as the other was a blast to do. I had that C320 on two wheels going around the cones. It was awesome.
Can't wait to drive the SL500.

Yep! I was able to ride it a few times. All you had to do is wait your turn. The good thing is that they had three of them so it didn't take to long.

Went to the one here on the Island this Saturday. Was a lot of fun driving the S500, E500 and even the E320 CDI felt great with all that low-end torque.
The CLK 500 was kinda small for my tastes by handled and accelerated great.
The SL500 was comfortable as hell and also handled great. Overall if I could drive away with one it would be either the E500 or SL500.
I got warned both times while driving the CLK and SL to tone it down a bit. Never hit a cone or anything but they thought I was driving too aggressively.
My other friend while the driving the SL took a turn too fast and went off the course and hit a sign. All the guys ran over to him and basically said your done here for day. Normally they'll give you 1 warning by putting a black slash mark on your pass but this time they just said take off your bracelet and get out.
My other friend who was riding shotgun with him said it looked like he cracked one of the headlight housings. Fortunately this happened right at the end of the day so we were leaving anyway.
All in all it was a good time. The track with the SL, SLK and CLK was much better then the sedan track as there were plenty of straight-aways and you could really push the car on there.
