Definitely the R8; it felt the most stable entering & exiting turns.

The Gallardo, although AWD as well, was too quick to get tale happy... went sideways a couple of times. As fun as that was, my objective was to get the quickest lap time possible to qualify to drive the 360 race car. I pulled it off on the R8.

Hah - when I do purchase an exotic, it will be a Lotus Esprit; between the years of 98 - 02. Hands down, my favorite car!

In regards to what's next, the search continues.

To be or not to be, that IS200t the question

Last week I grabbed an 06' Mini Cooper S JCW GP; #1735 of 2000.

Only way to describe how it drives; go-kart on steroids... literally!

Austin (Undying Dreams), Jeremy (Rockstar143), & Jon (Asianspec) snapped a couple of shots at a local meet this past weekend; good times.

As of now, my only plans are:
- Upgrade sound system
- Purchase a rated helmet
- Purchase a set of gloves
- Looking into stickier tires & brake pads
- Possible re-flash of ecu & pulley upgrade; but down the road. The car feels plenty quick as it is now.

I'm looking into local auto-x events to participate in as I wish excel in that arena.

Any insight, tips, & or comments is appreciated!

Congrats! That car looks like a ton of fun.

I say get the helmet/gloves and start autocrossing before you do any modifications. That car should excel around the cones from the factory. Spend the $$ on more sessions, then when you feel the tires (or other components) are holding you back, upgrade them.

So jealous! I had to settle for a nicely optioned '06 myself. The GP was a bit out of my budget when I was shopping for a R53. R56's were not even an option, I just loved the driving dynamics of the R53 much better.

Register on the RMW forum if you haven't already, knowledgeable group of people.. I go by 'bizzy' on there. There's also GPMINI.net

Yup; did my home prior to buying. I swear I spent my whole weekend watching track vids... It's a monster when pushed.

Nice one! I always loved the Mini.

Have fun man! Get some nice tires! That's the most important part of the car.

I would downsize to 16's, or light 17's at least.

Run flat tires are the worst. I went from the OEM wheels with run flats, to a conventional tire, to light 16" wheels on Hankook V12's. Handling, braking and ride quality vastly improved thru each stage. I'm running R56 S brakes which are essentially R53 GP brakes without the red paint, so 16's shouldn't be a problem. I'm on the hunt for some aluminum trailing arms like the GP and R56's have..

Currently on 18x7.5 wrapped in Nitto Neo Gen 215/40/18.

I've tried DSC off once since I got the car... It's best left on.

Brakes are definitely firm... HUGE difference from the RL upgrade I did on the CL.

At 24xxlbs, I suppose weight plays a role on that too...

It's more like 2,600 with fluids n all. There is a module you can purchase that automatically turns DSC off at start-up.. I need it, my car has the factory limited slip.. Good times. I'll be upgrading the diff when I get in there for a clutch though.

I've had mine for close to 3 years. Maintenance hasn't been too bad. Replaced belt, plugs and tensioner while I was in there for a 17% pulley. Went with RMW 450cc injectors when I got the RMW race exhaust and header. Did Vorshlag plates when the top strut mount tore. Then got Swift springs and Bilsteins although the OEM Sport suspension was fine. Car has been trouble free for the most part. Only issues have been a broken cam position sensor, O2 sensors and I busted the crank damper while hooning around so I got a ATI super damper. Oh and I did Vibratechnics mounts throughout because a group buy popped up. Oh and poly LCA bushings.. Just normal stuff that you want to uprage if you plan to hit the track.

I text Colin, he runs the RMW site and had him approve you.

kptechnologies is the one that makes that module, right? Same as the window roll up module.
