I moved this to car-talk so you can get a bit more objective responses.
Are you looking for new or used? Same size, smaller or larger than the TL? Features (navi, comfort access, HID's, etc)?

Your going to have to get more specific with your preferences before we can suggest realistic canidates.
Coupe, sedan, SUV, 2WD, RWD, AWD, midsize, compact, luxury, hot hatch, luxury sedan, coupe, 4 cylinder, twin turbo v12?
On that note, Maserati GranTurismo S in white with those delicious white seats.

USED, Luxury Sedan, either the same size as the TL or larger... maybe a higher class
05+ RL, GS430, 06 E350, 530i , A6..... or anything in that class.
looking for a car with the least problems, with the best bang for my buck, nicer than all overal, interior, exterior.. price range of 20-30gz
looking for the best options with it, with navi of course, since my tl has navi, im not gonna downgrade to no navi..
i just want anyones opinions, on what would be a great upgrade from a 04 TL with 160,000km with navi /black on Tan interior ..
i just want to move up a bit since my car is gettin a bit old, and its too common around my area now.

There's always the Cadillac STS (larger than the CTS) too, but the reliability may, like the mid-size German cars, be lower than the main Japanese competition.

i live in downtown, im in the east area ... around east end chinatown?
i just got my TL a few months ago.. but hey, i have a chance to sell it to a cousin of mine for a good price on my end, with all my mods... and he really wants it.. so basically, i can look at this as a chance to upgrade if this all goes through..
im looking into a GS 300 that i saw for about 26,000 with 97,000km canadian... < what do you guys think about that... would this be a good upgrade? i like jap cars, because its reliable, i would rather stick with acura or lexus, maybe an infinity but the interiors not that nice.

I'm not a hater of either brand, but do you think the Cadillac would have as many problems as something German? I'm only bringing it up because those were all on my list of cars before ending up with Japanese. In the finalists were a BMW 530, a CTS and the TL. I found that they mostly ran in that (reverse) order for reliability.
I love German cars, but I just got scared off with repairs. I know they are complicated machines that require a lot of attention to keep operating correctly. I have enough problems in my life without having to worry about which "tronic" system is producing an engine code. Still brings a smile to my face when I see them on the road, but I'm just not rich enough to maintain one.
If money isn't as big of a concern, (and it sounds like it isn't) maybe a Mercedes CLS? I've always liked the lines on that one. Maybe give it a look?

I'd go with a 3G TL-S, then maybe an Infiniti M35 or RL. BTW, the GS has a similar interior size, but smaller trunk than the 3G TL.

With that budget you could get some really nice new cars as well. The new VW GTi is very sweet, Mazdaspeed3, Hyundai Genesis (coupe or sedan are both nice), Mustang, Camaro (though no nav option), TSX, etc.
I know you are looking for a used luxury sedan but any of these cars would come with a new car warranty and most of the features of the luxury cars anyway. Just a thought...

if you are looking for something reliable, get another Acura or go Lexus. id stay away from BMW and Benz after seeing what my aunts went through.
if you dont want another Acura, id go for the Lexus GS. ive always liked those. make sure its a V8

Go used. Don't buy new.
Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I was just in Toronto and they loves them some taxes up there. I have no idea what the taxes on a $25k CAD car would be.

btw, my parents bought me a brand new 05 TL when I was like 18-19.
Now I regret taking that offer, it's not that I didn't enjoy it or anything. It just feels like I wasn't mature enough.
Just saying![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
You should just keep your TL.

They got me for about $1800.00 in taxes on my used 07. It was split too, I had to pay the lower sales tax in the place I bought it, then when I brought it to my state, I had to pay the difference to title it.

'10 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Get a Type-S you know what you have is great and the Type-S is definitely a step above. The GS300 is underpowered to the TL and in my opinion it looks average. The interior is nice and reliability is pretty solid, but with the TL you are going to be satisfied for sure. The GS is also RWD, which is going to be hard in those Canadian winters. I would also go for the G35 coupe over the Lexus GS300, but you don't want a coupe so stick with the Type-S.
Although the RL is really nice as well, it's a win win with either. I however like the Type-S over the RL.

the type s is nice, but the lowest one i found here in toronto on autotrader, starts at 34000.. and its white..
im looking for something thats nice for black on black, or gray on black..
taxes here in toronto is 13% .. its crazy
id probably go with an gs300 '06, or an '05 rl... i like both but my brother already has a black on black '05 rl... so id go with gray RL if i had to.. , it depends what i can get for a better price..
what do you guys think about a '07 G35x (black)...

My RL is great...the ONLY problem I am having right now is with the navi. Get 06+. The 05s has alot of electrical problems.

Safety Car
The TL only has about 100k on it no? He could probably get 2-3x that off the 04 TL ... Keep the TL since you're probably going to college next year (I'm guessing) and you can probably convince your parents to help with an apartment after the first year rather than a car payment ![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

i have to agree with JS + TL though. the '10 ms3 may not be the BEST looking car, but it's definitely got the fun factor; maybe it's just me though. i've been craving POWER lately -_-! it gives you a good bang for the buck, for sure.
edit: dude, and you're 17! live a little...get into trouble ("trouble")
enjoy being young, and being stupid (albeit i hope you learn from your mistakes)
you can always do luxury later in life when you have a WIFE and CHILDREN (YES pun intended *cough cough* luxury - for the older, more mature gentlemen)

Personally I'm gonna wait another year and then get a used BMW 335. Now they're about 36-38k for a 2007 non-CPO one which is too much for my budget so I gotta wait.
Realistically, you're gonna have a hard time finding a car that's significantly better than a 3G TL, even an 04, for under 30k. The best car you can get would be the 2nd gen (2007+) G35, and even that's only slightly better than a 3G TL. I would recommend against an Audi A6 as those are not cheap to maintain from what I've heard.
