dont really suggest an old used s4. if you think trannies are expensive, just think about the turbos. woops i read a4. they are nice but slower and not as luxurious, my friend had one. he slapped a turbo on it and it had heat, but he sold it because it got boring and unreliable.

you should upgrade to a 2002-3 Type S with like 40k miles. or a CL-S 6 spd.

if your trying to steer away from acura, maybe a 2003 maxima or altima 3.5?

This girl at work drives an 04 A4. She says she'd never buy another Audi again. No major problems, but a lot of small ones, so it goes to the dealer a lot. She's said a few times that she'll get rid of it when the warranty is about to expire. I think it's good move. Other people I know with older A4s have had similar complaints.

For 20k, how about a new, pimped out Civic Si? If you want to go used, Accord coupe/sedan V6.
I was in the same boat a year and ahalf ago after my CL-S was totaled. I decided to take the insurance money and use it as a down payment for something new instead of getting a crappy car or a used one. Maybe that's another option you can look at?

Plus, the VQ35DE is VERY addictive.

Yup,
I was in love with my 03 maxima when I had it Now my dad has it, and I still think it's a beautiful car. You could also look at a used I35, pretty much same as the maxima, with some more luxuries inside.

2nd Gen TL and CL's are nice for under 20K... You can find a nice 03 CL 6spd for that price...

I wouldn't rule out new either... for around 20K the new Civic SI looks good. If you want something to haul crap in the Scion Xb would work to...

You've got the Nissan offerings (max, altima) too to look at in the used car market.

You really need to narrow your scope... Do you want a sedan, coupe, standard, auto, fwd, rwd, v6, v8, 4 banger, etc etc...

Another vote for the 2k5 Civic SI. I think that it's the best body style ever for the Civic and the SI makes it

Do 2003 Maximas have more torque than a 2003 Type S.

i couldnt picture Ravi in a Civic SI

I totally forgot about the Accord V6 Coupes, THOSE THINGS ARE NICE!! i have one friend with the v6, shit hauls ass fast, and i got another friend with the 4 banger, that thing has decent torque too (he had a 98 AV6 and feels that the 03 4banger is quicker)

also, my dads old 2003 Altima 2.5 4 banger had really nice low end torque, i can only imagine what the 3.5 SE feels like.

some cars that my homies own that are pretty nice

1. Nissan Sentra Spec V, shit is quick, he smokes Type S's all day long
2. Lexus SC300 or SC400....it would be older, but the pimpness and speed is still there
3.Can you find a TSX for under 20k?

The 02-03 Maxima has 246lb-ft on paper but some folks believe that it's actually somewhere around 265lb-ft. The TL-S/CL-S has 232lb-ft(?).

IMHO, the most enjoyable part of driving the Maxima is its torque delivery; you can put serious power to the pavement at just about any RPM. The only thing hindering it is its AT gearing.

Here's some cars I'd consider that is selling on AutoTrader right now for that price range:

'98 BMW M3 Convertible ($17,995), I know it's an auto but for the price and mileage it's a really good deal.

'03 Ford Mustang Mach 1 ($19,900), very fast car and kinda rare which means better resale value then the regular GT's overtime.

'03 Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe ($18,900), auto again but very nice looking Accord.

'02 Infiniti I35 ($17,900), nothing flashy but very reliable and almost as quick as the Acura TL Type-S.

'99 Lexus GS400 ($19,900), very reliable and fast yet luxurious also it only has 46k miles.

'02 Nissan Maxima SE ($16,995), pretty good deal on this nice sedan with power to spare.

'03 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE ($18,500), looks like it has pretty much every option and low miles.

The main problem with the Audi's is the maintenance. They are beautiful cars but expensive as hell to maintain.

the 1.8t has no issue with their turbos and the parts arent too expensive if you want to mod it.

Its free till 50k miles.

after that, you would be a sucker if you went to the dealer to get things done.

There's a really nice looking '02 A4 with only 20k miles selling for $16,900 that's close to me, the problem is that it's around 2500 miles away from you though.

Do you really know what you want? You're all over the place. From Audi and BMW to Evo and Sti.

If you want more luxury, go with Audi or BMW, if you want something faster, go with Evo or STi. They can all be fun to drive, just depends on what your priorities are.

screw them...i know how you are feelling. I am going to sell my car, and getting ready to get a new one. The price range it around yours too, maybe even a little more. But yeah I was looking at Audi's and BMW. For me, i like the audi A4. My friend has the A6 3.0 and that thing is nice. Not so much on the horsepower side...only has 220. but the look, feel, ride is great. I was look at the evo's and sti's too. I might end up getting a WRX, and upgrading the turbo to my spec's. Lately i been checking out he 04 wrx wagon in white....lol its funny but check one that is fixed up..wow its soo nice. maybe if you can get more money go for the new IS250...wow i love those...
