LoJack Question 0_o
Hey fellas, I bought a bike over the holidays, 2011 Gsx-R w/ LoJack Installed. It came w/ paperwork to have it registered whatever, I sent it in a few weeks ago and got a call today saying the 'unit' is not registered. I called the bike shop where I purchased it, they said they don't install it. It comes from suzuki. I called Suzuki USA and they said the bike shop installs it. WTF!??
Does anyone know what the thing looks like so I can see if its even on my bike? I paid an extra 500 for it and would like to have it work correctly if need be. Thanks guys.
Oh and heres a pic of the bike.

Nice bike. If it's like the car business, sometimes lojack comes pre-installed, but they do this at the dealership not the factory. I'd speak to someone else over at the dealer, their answer doesn't seem to add up.

No idea what it looks like. When I bought my car I had it installed and they hide it somewhere and don't tell you where they put it for a reason. I don't know the reason, but there must be one.
Mine has been in the car for 4 years now and I think you need it serviced every 2 years to make sure it still works; I'm guessing mine doesn't work anymore lol.
But what was annoying is that a couple of times (when I first got it installed), I would drive while having the fob thing on my keychain and I still would get an alert that my car was being moved without the fob.

The dealer/shop installs it.
If LoJack says the bike is not registered, then I'd believe them.
Make sure the VIN that you are giving lojack is correct, if it is, then most likely the bike shop is lying or they forgot to submit proper paperwork to lojack for registration.
It can be a paperwork mistake or they just took $500 from you. Could go either way, but i'm guessing its more of a clerical error somewere.
They never tell you where it is installed or what it looks like. But if you search google, you can find a few examples of what it looks like. Its basically a non descript black box with a couple of wires coming out of it. If you find a black box (or other shape) that doesn't look factory then you probably found it.

I also had the regular LoJack in my Prelude. When I stripped the car down to prepare it for a cage, I found the unit. It was a black plastic box connected to a battery. I don't quite remember the approx sizes, but they weren't that big.

^ Yea I have the early warning system. Last time I replaced the battery was... 3 years ago or something like that .
As a matter of fact, I'm going to go test it real quick by driving around for 5 min without the fob and see if I get an alert to my phone/email.
Well just got back and no warning. I'm guessing it is because the battery in the actual box in the car is dead.
Note to OP, if you get lojack, make sure to keep up with it and make sure it works every year or so!
Edit #2. Nevermind, I actually did just get an early warning call from lojack so looks like both the battery in the box and in the fob still work!

That Early Warning thing really annoyed me when I had it in the TSX. In the beginning, I got the alerts rather quickly. After a few years, the alerts came 1/2 hour (at the minimum) late. If my car were really stolen, it could already be stripped down in 1/2 hour. That was why I decided to skip that when I bought my next car.
