License and Insurance Question
Hey guys, dont know if im posting in the right section for this question but here it goes:
my family is from NJ and I am currently living in NC. My 02 TL is registered under my father's insurance because the rates are lower than being on my own plan. I am attempting to establish residency in NC to cut my school tuition into a third of what it is for out of state.
Basically one of the things i have to do is get an NC license. Would I be able to drive my NJ insured and registered vehicle with an NC license since the car is technically in my father's name once again due to insurance purposes, or would that be a problem if god forbid i was to be pulled over?
I would much rather not have to register and insure my car down here just in case i decide to come back home at any point and then have to register in NJ once again and waste a lot of money on changing the registration and all. any help on this would be great. Thanks.

the laws vary by state to state, but i don't think you'll have a problem if you change your license to NC but keep the car registered/insured under your father's name in NJ.
I was in TX for 6 months for work, and according to their laws, I need to register my car there if I were staying more than 30 days or something, which made no sense since I was never going to change my license or anything for such a short term. Never had a problem, considering I don't have front plates (no need in PA), but people get pulled over all the time in TX for missing their fronts.
