Licence Plate Question

What does it mean when a custom licence plate has the number 1 at the end of the #s/letters? I'm pretty sure its not just something anyone can get, but not sure of the significance. thanks

I'd say most states charge more for a plate w/o any numbers on them, so this could be the reason. In NJ there is no difference in cost according to the DMV website.

maybe i didnt explain clearly. but i meant a plate for example with "ATX 1" where the letters are custom, followed by the number 1. i'm pretty sure it is something that not anyone can get.

A picture would make it easier to explain.

I can't imagine why it'd be restricted. It's not around here, I'm pretty sure.

I would think people might put "1" after whatever custom plate idea they had if that plate was already taken. For example, say you try to get "ACURA", but someone already has that - you might go for "ACURA1".
