This is getting to be a harder decision by the minute. The lexus is sadly already gone Its still a truck on the list. MDX is also something im now looking at. Which other trucks you say are worth it? Escalade, x5, cayenne? Range pretty much seems to be off the list but today i seen like 5 of them and hard to say no lol. Normally i dont see them but it was different today. Wish it were easier. 5-6 is teh avg people in the family going out together, this will be a truck just to go out of town so that said, SCREW THE GAS PRICE. MDX seats 7? Didnt know that. New one looks nice so gonan take a look at that.

If you'll mostly be using this for long hauls with the family (assuming you're talking about all adults), do you really plan on having someone sit in those tiny, uncomfortable (often times: useless) third row seats SUVs throw in? In Post #1 you said you wanted something that could seat up to 8. A lot of the SUVs you're looking at would probably be a pretty tight squeeze. I'd think most older children and adults would find it pretty awkward and uncomfortable over a long period of time, at least in a lot of mid-sized SUVs I've seen. And don't forget that using that third row can dramatically take away from storage/luggage space (since you plan on using it for trips). If you really want comfort for that many people, consider a van.

no matter what, it always seems that the range stays the same on the fuel consumption screen for some reason. sucks and you cant reset the ave fuel monitor until the fuel door is opened and closed ie it stays ave fuel consumption since refuel. all you can reset is the ave. speed for some reason. and the fuel computer is horribly off.
i average about 17 (at least) when it stated 15.6 on a full tank to NJ and back. range stayed at like 290 for the first 1/4th of the trip until it started to go down. ugh weird. it shows it age in that respect.
another weird thing is the rear air conditioner/heater. i thought it was broken for sure. ok. this is the thing. hot air ONLY comes from the feet and cold air comes ONLY from the head. on the cold day i put it on hot and face and cold air came out. until i looked at it again, red was pointed at feet, blue at head... so it automatically chose feet but i overrode and pushed head. weird i no on a 65k normally car lol
but yea, def. worth it for my big family

Prices of the 07+ MDX are in your price range. Your budget seems to be around 40k(RR). I looked up on auto trader using the same zipcode as there was for the Range and a couple of CPO MDXs came up...Have a look.

If you are really serious about seating 7-8 ppl, your choices are very small. The MDX is VERY cramped if you try to pull this off. Why aer you even considering a x5, cayenne, etc now? Those only seat like 5 ppl. If you're going that route, then get a car.

+1
Even the LX470 can NOT sit 8 people properly, the 3rd row is like a bench with some padding and sitting on it your knees would almost be touching your chin , ok I am exaggerating a bit but you get the idea. LX is certainly better when it comes to cost of ownership but if you want to seat 7~8 people then look at a toyota sequoia, nissan armada, Infiniti QX56 etc.

My neighbor bought a Sport Supercharged in November and the fuel pump crapped out first week, leaving him stranded. It was paid for under warranty but he still loves it. Doesn't drive much; car only has 4,400 miles on it.

NO AMERICAN BUILT. I pretty mixed up right now but i hate the fact american cars lose value too fast. Also i dont like american trucks on a personal level. Too many problems too soon. BTW that is my own thoughts and dont argue with me that they are good or what not. I just dont like them. So please no arguments and i do appreciate that fact you guys are helping me out. Im pretty fogged up. Dont know what to do lol.

In your first post you said you wanted an 8 seater. Get an Odyssey and call it a day. It's a people hauler you need.

I was going to try to talk you into american cars but now I wont.
What about a 4Runner? This kid at my school had one and it was a nice car for what it was.

I have a 02 4runner, bought brand new and engine went out at 90k!!! so the hell with 4runners lol. Putting a new engine into it and selling it and truthfully im stuck to the range. Ive been looking for a range one sale. Cant seem to find any other suvs that look good and are good. Range looks good but the reliabiltiy issues u guys pointed out has me worried.

Perhaps the Black Hole comment was a bit harsh, but I agree.... the best way to do this is test drive and check every car you are potentially interested in.

heres the facts. rover has a sub par reliability rating. are you planning to sell it within 5 years? because no way in hell is that thing gonna be problem free after 90k like your 4runner.
hell if you can get the price down a little, id probably buy it just for what it is considering that its low on miles. then sell that chromed out garbage can in a few years to someone else who if face most of the problems. eh i could justify the risk. get it

I've seen (Sequoia) SR5's in the mid 30k range here in Florida.
