Lexus LX470 or Range Rover Sport
Which would be a truck you would get and why? Getting rid of the 4runner. Trucks had 94k miles and engine went out. So replacing that and selling it and need a replacement. I prefer an 8 seater. Im looking at a 2003 lexus lx470, loaded very clean, heres a link. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/703594364.html and a 2006 range rover, heres a link http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=64.
Ive never dealt with range so any input for ag uy wanted to learn as much as possible. I do know it is not a 8 seater and would be the only one i would go for that is not. No american please i hate gm ford and dodge trucks. I prefer german, japanese, etc. All input is appreciated. I know the lexus has a SMOOTH ride does the range also? What are benefits between them each.

Avoid the Range like the plague unless you have gobs of money and time to tow it to the dealership. RR has one of the worst reliability. The Lexus is a very nice ride, comfortable, has class but gas prices aren't going down anytime soon. However may I ask if you're considering the 39k Range, why you haven't taken a look at the MDX? I'd take it over both of the two you presented. The only downside must be the 8 seats you say you need but I doubt the Range has them.

The only reason i want teh range is it looks sooo hot. At the same time i prefer a 8 seater. Never had any thing to do with a range before. Its just soo sexy when you see a white range rollin on some 24s coming down the street. Lexus lx i know has a sweet ride. As much as i liek the mdx i want a V8 since it will only be a car i will use when the whole family goes out. Otherwise just sit in teh garage. I am planning on test driving a range monday to see how the ride is. Reliability wise, i dont know how good it is. Thats why i have come here for advice. Anyone that has owned a range how was it? I love my tl, i dont care about the transmission issue. I want something i can love liek that. I loved the 4runner but when the engine went out at 94k, it was a HUGE disapointment.

Although you may love the Land Roverr.. the reasoning people are giving u about the quality should make it all the less enticing to purchase such a nice eyet unreliable vehicle.. Ive read up on reliability of the L R's and its not to great as oher have said. Just be careful and dont regret buyin a money pit.

Gawd I love that Range Rover but I don't think I could recommend one to anyone.......
If you're gonna get one, you need a CPO or a new one.....

You are looking at the used ones right?
Lexus would be my recommendation. Silky ride, not bad gas mileage, 8 seats RELIABILITY...
I agree that RR is a killer looking SUV.. I want one too but its reliability side is one of the worst in the industry.

damn, this is bumming me out lol but glad i did it. What other suv would u reccomend? What about the porsche? i do my oil chagnes and stuff my self, is it easy to do one rr and porshces also or is it a pain in da rear end? I dont wanna buy somethign expensive and regret it. Im moving farther away from the range but its still in the little corner of my braind lol. I just dont like american suv due to their resale value. Mdx is on the list but like i said earlier a 8 seater is first. Sequia, lx470, qx56, etc.

just had this situation with the parents. looked at everything and anything. looked at a range, and land rover... and like its been said - only new and lease for a RR... i was not impressed with the interior and the quality is shotty at best... so only get one for a lease and let the 2nd owner get the problems.
that being said, we got a lexus lx470 from ebay lol
2004, 48k miles, 31,600 flat. happy as a hooker. quality is as hard as nipples in a snowstorm. really.
the ride is 300x better than our suburban z71 with bilstein shocks and you have 4 levels of comfort to sport suspension changes because they are air bags. like the rover, you can change ride height with a flick of a button. and damn is it sexy. i dont know about you, but the only lexus dealership is 90 miles from my hicktown and my dad gets more attention from other doctors than any land/range rover.
interior is impeccable... but the 2003 dosnt have bluetooth or backup camera (ours... 2004 does)
enough room, great console, audio, etc... cant say enough

Lexus over the RR. Although the RR looks cooler.
But RR is one of those vehicles where the anecdotel horror stories from friends and family are backed up by the (un)reliability reports from those major surveyors.
But either way, both cars guzzle gas like it's nobody's business.
Also the Land Cruiser is a cheaper alternative, except you don't get as many gadgets, which is unfuckingbelievable since it's also no bargain price car.
