Lets Give the G35C some credit!
guys before I start let me first say: torqueaholic=revaholic! and with that I want to send a shout out to my fans: mattg, dbox, ATL, unsure,......etc!
Now guys, from what I've read on freshalloy, and judging from the timeslips I've seen the G35c 6MT is a visciously fast car! they are all running 14flat stock @ 99-101mph! I have to give this car some credit! when It first came out I was one of the haters, thinking that a stock BMW330CI/CLS6 could definitely hang in a straight line, but it has become very clear to me that this is NOT the case! I also had the privilage of riding in a 6MT G35C on sunday, down the 1320! and I must say, those 280horses where VERY VERY healthy! Not trying to start a flame thread, just reading a lot of G35bashing lately, and I just wanted to stick up for the car I once hated, now, WORSHIP! defintely the undisputed KING OF ITS CLASS!

still a Masshole
Actually I don't think there is that much hating on the G in here...its mostly one or two people and the rest of the peeps are actually defending it. Great car. Yes the G35c 6-speeds are faster than the 330ci and CLS6, but they can certainly hang. there are a few 14.5-14.7s @97-98 here I believe. The Gs are mostly in the 14.1-14.4 range well driven.

i'm a big fan of the 6MT G35C. i've always said here on the forum that i'm happy w my car and wouldnt consider getting a new one anytime soon, but with the amount of times my car is at Acura service, the Acura brand has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth.
From 40,000 miles to the current 44,500 miles my car has been in there for a new tranny, electrical ground problems, defective airbag sensor, and it is currently sitting there now with AC failure.... WTF?!
i stopped by the Infinity dealer last Saturday at 6:20... they closed at 6.... i was on my way to see the G35c.....
thats the only car i'd consider getting right now.

Torquey....
I'm actually going to be test driving one tomorrow, so we'll see. I think it's a badass car, looks wise. However, the jury is still out on the interior design. Your thoughts??? I bet once I start driving the car, I'll forget all about everything except the performance this car is supposed to produce.

As for the g35 being faster then the Z, I just can't see it. Suposably they have the same engine, and the weight difference should give the advantage to the Z.
On the hating on the G issue, if I had to buy a car this summer, I'd be looking at the G or the Z (since the CLS is being discontinued).
I personally don't like the interior on either car, but they're slowly growning on me. My Acura dealership is right next door to the Infiniti dealer (one of those mega luxury car places), and I have to walk thru the Infiniti showroom to pick up my loaner. I've sat in the G and the interior isn't as bad once you sit in it.
Next time I go down there (need to pick up some parts at the Mercedes parts dept - don't ask), I should as to take a test drive.
If acura doesn't come out with another coupe in a few years, I'll be seriously looking at the Z and G. Things change alot now in the automotive world so who knows what will be available in a few years.

I'm assuming your putting the CL and G35 in the same class cuz you've mentioned the Best in Class quite often since your return.

I think it maybe that with high torque RWD cars, 200lbs, doesn't neccesarily translate to .2 sec difference. but I assure you, both cars are running the same. two guys even tried this on my350Z.com, and both cars were dead even.

Yeah, I agree..... I've read a ton of 1/4 mile drag race stories for the G coupe and the Z and most guys are claiming 14.0-14.1 times for both cars.
I even read a thread where a guy ran 13.9 with his brand new G first time out. Not bad for a semi luxo cruiser
Either way though, the G coupe and the CL-S (manual trans) would most likely come down to a driver's race. There's just not enough difference in power/speed for a G coupe driver to make a mistake and still win.

Also, it has been said that there is no real HP difference between the G and the Z. The numbers are different for marketing purposes. True? I dunno....... but 7 hp aint shit anyway.....
