I have learned not to try and hide it from her...
I just explain to her why I need it and how much I can sell it for when the time comes.

Found 2 more snails that I may try to work into my garage.....
2013 Flex EcoBoost with half the mileage of our '13 SEL. Could maybe get into it without my payment changing much. Only hitch is that it has the appearance package & my wife isn't a fan of the black roof/wheels. Wonder if I could get them to swap the wheels & she could live with the black roof & black/gray seats

Bought a trailer for the wife's business. Truck pulls it great.
Got to playing around with the backup assist yesterday. Pretty interesting system, backed the trailer about 60-70 yards down my street & into the driveway with no hands on the wheel.

Will try to video it next time. Need to show the wife how it works, so I'll get her to film it.

I'll likely be going with her the first few times, or every time, if she's not up to it. She's never towed a trailer before.

Got a bluetooth OBD adapter on the way, Forscan here I come.
Part should be here today, along with a replacement T/C switch that will add Hill Descent Control. Both were free, so
Only really want the switch for cosmetic purposes, since there aren't many hill in Houston

This is what it looks like now:

This will be after, except the camera button the far right is the Auto-stop disable:

Forscan is crazy. Can write mods to a lot of the modules in the truck to make changes.
'Bambi mode' enables fog lights with the high beams
Can kill hyperflash with LED bulb swaps.
Able to add items that only come on higher trims & enable full functionality.

A guy over on the F150 forum has done a lot of testing & has a large google form with the coding.

Hoo boy,Forsan is interesting.
Got my Bluetooth OBD module yesterday & the replacement T/C switch to enable hill descent control.

Also enabled 'Bambi Mode' to allow foglights with high beams (not that I use the highs that much). And disabled the door ajar chime (really need to do this in the Flex).

That's excellent!
Does he ensure it all plays nicely with the oem settings?

Guys have been modding with Forscan since the 15s came out, lot of the R&D already done.
Since HDC is an OEM option, it's nearly plug & play; literally had to change 1 digit of code on the module.

HDC is super useful if you are on actual hills that are slippery or rugged. It's completely unnecessary for going down steep driveways.

Love the changes though, I don't know why automakers don't let you do high beams and fogs at the same time from the factory.

HDC add was partly for the look, 4 half buttons on the dash instead of 2 half & 1 long. Doubt I'll have many opportunities to use it for real.
The lighting has to do with something in DOT saying you can't have more than 4 forward illuminated lights or something like that. I imagine I'll get the most use out of it at our ranch.

Crossed over 3k miles on the F this morning. Getting just under 20mpg, based on the trip computer; which seems to be .5-1.5mpg optimistic so far. Just about every tank has included some heavy driving for my wife's business, so I haven't gotten a good feel for the true avg mpg of a tank.
We're going to NM tomorrow morning, towing the slow snail to its new owner (sister) & seeing family for Thanksgiving, I imagine the MPG will suck on the trip out, since it's all 'uphill' to about 4k in Los Lunas. Trip back should yield some good MPGs.

On the track layouts we run we're around 60mph max. With the right gearing you can hit near 90mph but it would need to be a big track.

I have some videos uploaded at www.youtube.com/DCXMotorsports if you're interested . I actually just uploaded my October double-header last week...

Forscan is awesome. You disable the double honk on exit? One of the first things i did. I just wish there was a way to fully disable tcs/esc. Did you change the display to Lincoln or the new volume like lincoln has?

Im averaging 18mpg overall. All hwy with cruise on around 80 and its mid low 20s. I get about 16-18 pulling the 4500ish lb skiboat.

No double honk for me, I think it is only trucks with push-button start.
Haven't messed with the display. I think there were some issues with keeping it as a permanent switch. Some got it to change, but it was for 1 cycle then it reverted. Do you have Sync2 or Sync3?

Shorter trip back, 13 hours, mostly downhill. The run from around Wichita Falls to Houston yielded nearly 22mpg running 80-85mph:

lol, I know. I'm just messing with you. Plus, I'd take care of you whenever you wanted to buy... not just on "Cyber Monday".

On a side note... how was it towing a car with a dolly? I've pulled a car on a flat trailer before, but never went the dolly route. Always scares me that there would be a lot of sway...

Towed it like it wasn't even there. A bit of minor sway with a strong crosswind gust, but not bad at all. I figured 14mpg pulling just sub-3k pounds uphill (Houston 80', LosLunas 4.6k') isn't too bad.

Ah, thought you had keyless. Yea, no double honk with that. Drove me nuts. Humm, didnt see anyone with issues (then again i havent followed the f150 forscan thread real closely) I have Sync 2. Though i have thought about converting it. Ive got a sync 3 hidden out in our local pic n pull salvage yard incase i want to try. A lil misrepresentation of what it is and i could probably have it for 200 bucks or less

I played around with the different startup overlays for Sync3 & didn't love them. Went back to the Ford oval.

Also got the global windows working, only works on the front windows, but why not, hoping the figure out how to enable the sunroof flip-up with it like the Fusion has.
A couple guys on the F150forum are awesome at digging the stuff out of Forscan, using other models (Fusion for global open/close) as a coding test base.

Having Sync2 in our Flex & Sync3 in my truck, I'd take Sync3 given the choice. If/when we upgrade the Flex, I'll be on the lookout for a 2016+ EcoBoost.

My ST double honks when the door closes with the engine on and key FOB in pocket. A bit annoying to say the least. I usually leave the door cracked a bit because of it.
