3rd repair in 4 visits. Just picked up the truck.
Of course, it's 42* outside, which it rarely rattled when it was cold out. Will see if the rattles resurface once it warms up again.

The Saga Ends

Well after almost 6 months of searching, my quest to replace the F150 has ended.
Luckily, in a way, no one on here took me up on buying it. In the last month or two, the sunroof had started squeaking on rough pavement, a rattle/rumble had developed in the rear (bed/axle/suspension), and the LR door lock was starting to stick.

I think I looked at just about every practical 4-door option under ~$40k

Mercedes C400 / C300
Ford Fusion Sport
Ford Edge Sport
Kia Stinger Premium
Accord - Touring & Sport, 10AT & 6MT
Mazda 6 - GT GT R & Signature
Genesis Ultimate / G80
VW GTI Autobahn DSG
Ford Focus ST
Hyundai Elantra GT Sport 7DCT

After all that, the GTI was my #2 pick, behind the C300. But, I searched with a pretty wide net & couldn't find one equipped the way I'd want it.
With that, I was ready to start getting quotes from dealers on the GTI.

Happened to do a check on AutoTrader for C300s & came across a CPO that checked most of the boxes.
An extended test drive later & a bit of negotiation, and the truck was gone.

2015 Mercedes C300 Sport
Iridium Silver
Black interior
AMG 19" wheels
Premium pkg
Multimedia pkg

Have technically been in it for a week, signed all the paperwork Friday after work. No complaints on it, love the way it drives & am surprised that even with the Continental 'run-flats', 19" wheels and sport suspension, it's so much smoother on rough pavement than the truck was.
It's got a firm ride, but not jarring at all.

Haven't had a chance to take more than a few parking lot photos so far.

Everything signed & saying good-bye to the Blue Oval.

A couple shots from the office.

Glad you got your first choice of car, I'm sure you will love the heck out of it. I have never personally been a fan of MB (people are generally either a BMW guy or a MB guy) but it is clearly a high quality machine far, far beyond that of any pickup. We've talked over the past few weeks regarding your car search and I never even knew you were originally hunting a C300! Congrats!

The first 3 cars I looked at were MB.
A C400 (too expensive, though the performance with the TTV6 was awesome). A tired C300 Sport & a C300 Luxury.

No complaints a week in, filled up for the first time this morning (going to take some getting used to the filler being on the pass. side), so the fuel tracking begins (tracked every mile/fuelup after the dealer tank on the F150 too).

Need to make a svc appt, the exterior courtesy light in the driver's door handle isn't coming on, but also want to see if there's any other little things & get it all done at once.

okay, so now that we're able to be honest...
what a piece of shit the ford is. my work truck hasn't given me any real issues, only annoyances...but it feels like a hunk of shit and shifts and downshits weird...
after 45k of miles of my own on it, the only nice things I can say about it revolve around the fact that it's new, decently quick, and is free to me to drive. If I had paid $40K for it, I'd kill myself.

That said, I love your pick...I drove a friend's base model c300 or 250 or something and man it is comfy and well put together...ambient lighting is crazy and it just feels solid. Still not sure I'd MB over Audi or BMW but German has a certain
allure that isn't touched by other brands for me anymore.

Congrats, man!

The truck definitely had its faults. But, if I had to buy another truck, I still think the F150 is the best option of the big 4.

It's a firm, sporty ride, probably comparable in some ways to the GTI, especially on 19s & run-flats, but probably a bit more cush as well.

Maybe.
For me, it's more who makes the best option for what I want.
For trucks, it's the F150.
For a large SUV, I'd probably go Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon over Expedition.
Small/mid-size SUV, probably something Japanese.

Mmmmm...
those are some sick ass trucks...aggressive looking fronts!
I'm tempted to get one and do the 4/6" drop front and rear...but then, what's the point of a lowered truck!?

What do we like for car wash stuff, without breaking the bank?
Just ran out of the turtle wax stuff the last time I did the F150 & Flex. Did a nice job, or at least good enough, for a truck.
Whatever the wife's Flex was coated with before we bought it back in 2015, is still holding up well & the water just beads/sheets off amazingly when it's clean.

Definitely looking forward to the much shorter wash time with the Merc over having to get a stepladder for the truck.

Are you talking wash soap or sealant/wax?

Wash soap, primarily.
A ceramic sealer would be nice to get done at some point as well.

For a daily I accept swirls and sanity are part of life...
best protection from all I've used is Wolfgang's Deep Paint Sealant...easy on, easy off...lasts...people used to ask me if I had the NBP TL painted when I'd apply it.
It's pricey, but worth it.

wash soap, Chemical Guys off Amazon...cost per unit ends up being the same or cheaper than over the counter shit and it suds better and smells good enough to eat! But it will give you a belly ache after the first 3 or 4 teaspoons so don't let the smell fool you.

After a quickie Amazon search, the prices aren't bad. A little more than a gallon of turtle wax soap, or the equivalent from somewhere like WalMart/AutoZone.

Is the foam cannon/gun worth it?

I use Megs Gold Class wash soap. Can get at Costco in a two pack for cheap. Works pretty well.

Foam gun absolutely worth it.

Spray wash and quick detail I have been using Griots Garage since you can used Advanced Auto coupons on it to make it cheaper sometimes or at least the same as McGuires and I think it works better. The Griots Garage Tech Clay is really cool too.

If you have a 1600 psi electric pressure washer, the generic foam canon is cool with the honeydoo foam...
but honestly, most of the time it takes me longer to set that up than to wash the car so I don't make the time to do it.
Then again, I'm maintaining 5 vehicles.

I don't have the pressure washer one, just the one that hooks to the hose. Works great.

maybe I didn't mix right...
I don't think it worked great...
not with gas powered 2600 nor with the hose one...
the only way i got good foam was the 1600 electric one after many attempts.
maybe i didn't have the mix right.
