I don't know if this belongs in Cartalk (mods feel free to move), but I thought Ramblings would get a kick out of this!!!

Yeah, I moved it to Car Talk.

But holy shit... that was awesome. Guess he didn't realize that when you park a manual, it's in gear....

Scott it might not be a GT500, I just figured thats what it was. It might be one of those one-off dealership speciality vehicles or something

Are you sure that was a GT500? An EPA rating of 17 / 25 mpg seems pretty high for a 4000lb. car with a supercharged V8.

I know the car wasn't for the kid, it was the dad's but just letting a kid get behind the wheel?
around here... in the "OC" you see a lot of folks buying their (h.s.) kids cars like that... or STi's Mitsu EVO's, M3's... and they go out and race'em and crash'em... we've had a couple in the past year that died (I think it was a kid in a M3), and ya know what? I have absolutely NO sympathy for them.

I hate to admit it, but when I was like 6 I did the same thing in my dads caddy. Although I just tapped the garage door, I didn't go flying through it

I've almost done the same thing in my GTO. I don't park in gear- but if I ever have work done, they usually leave it in gear and I have to be careful.

I think its time to start a class action lawsuit against Ford/SVT/Shelby. If it weren't for them, this wouldn't have happened.

Meh, don't feel bad.

When I was about 11 or so, I was out at my grandparent's house drivng my dad's Corvette bodied, Shriner go-cart around the house (it was a huge yard) and I came flying around a corner and the accelerator stuck wide open. As I was sliding sideways, since the accelerator was stuck, I continued out of control and ended up slamming it right into the side of the house. It was my fault for running around the house balls to the wall... Literally. Anyway, that was a $500 or $600 repair bill.

It looked just like this... (Not my father)

Shit happens.

Did anyone really think that was a GT500?

At the average of vehicles going for $10k+ over MSRP.

No dealer would put all of that crap on a new GT500.
