Keep 2012 TL AWD or purchase new Accord?
I am thinking about purchasing my 2012 TL AWD when my lease is up.Buyout is 21k. 80k on car. Wife would use car the car and drives only 15 k a year or so. Or buy her a new accord or Sonata, Altima. The TL AWD is such a nice car and handles so well I am dithering on keeping it vs new lesser car. I have had friends who have driven these for 275-300k with routine maintenance. Thoughts??

Buy out the TL and run it until it dies.

Does your TL consume any oil? If not, keep it. The only repairs you have to do are the 105K service for around 1K. Other than that the torque converter is the weak point and is a $660 repair.

there is another way.
Go to carmax and other used car dealers to get some quote to see how much they will offer you to buy your car (leased or not does not matter)
If they can offer you something around $20k, sell it to them instead of returning it.

Next time, buy, don't lease, if you're going to put major miles on your car.

21K is an alright deal, but it's pretty much the black book trade in value. <img alt="" src="https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazine.com-vbulletin/363x587/80-screen_shot_2015_09_15_at_9_42_50_pm_5b4d4ab55709c 9dfcc4620016a9b0f43be6d93bd.png" /> Does your TL consume any oil? If that is the case, what is the down side for him to do the same lease again?
Lease a TLX V6 for 3 years put 80k miles on it, significantly lower monthly payment with little to $0 down payment and when it is time to sell it, make a thousand or 2. Or even break even is ok too because he saved plenty from the lower monthly payment.
I am very curious on how this situation turns out...

AWD is dead weight? The only dead weight in this thread is your head. Once you have owned an AWD car you will understand just how awesome it is. I have had RWD, FWD and my last 2 cars have been AWD. Never going back to RWD or FWD.

AWD has nowhere the magic virtue that most innocents think that it has.
One of the most over-hyped gimmick in which people literally WASTE their money.
Yeah if I was racing a 650HP Fiesta, I'd want it. Or in a location with winters and many hills.
But for most applications, it is just a dead weight.
Cops don't order their Charger with AWD. They know that it is just what it is, a waste of money and a dead weight.
Except a few luxo-barges, M-cars don't have AWD.
Mustangs, Camaros, 805HP Challenger and Corvette don't have it.
Even the world's utter sedan, the cost no object Mercedes S600 Maybach doesn't have it. If there was a company that would believe that AWD increases a car's safety for literally peanuts (3K$), that would be Mercedes, mmmm?
Start thinking with your brain, not with your girlie emotions.

You can bet your butt that if it was 25% as good as some (most) people think it is, the S600 would have it standard, no question asked.
Same goes for Rolls.

That being said, you brought up a number of performance cars as examples of not using AWD to enhance the vehicle, and yet you ignored the many performance cars that use AWD to enhance the vehicle. You engaged in something we Americans call "cherry-picking." In other words, you looked for examples that supported your position, but ignored anything that didn't. That's pretty lame.

You could argue all those cars would BENEFIT from AWD.
Does BimmerForums have a 3G section or what? This guy is a repeat offender of plain stupid.

The cars that you are referring to are in the VW/Audi's group and it is clear that they have something to sell to fools and their money.
Yet...
This Is Audi's Insane Front-Wheel Drive TT-RS Racecar
Not all that shocking is it? Oh, but did I mention that Audi decided to scrap the production TT RS's all-wheel drive? Well they did, they scrapped it for an (sarcasm in 3-2-1) all dominating, race inspired... front wheel drive set up.

So tell us WHY we can't get M3 AWD that would enhance the vehicle.

As to Audi/VW/Bentley, I suspect their racing heritage with AWD vehicles speaks for itself (Audi as won how many Le Mans titles?).
I forgot to mention the various AWD Porsche models, including the 918.
There's also the P1 that is AWD.
Tesla Model S P85+ has an AWD option.
The GT-R is AWD.
Some people like AWD from both a performance and safety standpoint. It certainly changes the dynamics of the vehicle. I don't happen to want one specifically, but I can see its advantages for certain types of driving. In short, your universal dismissal of AWD as an enhancement to all vehicles in all situations is nonsense. Not that you'll admit that you overreached and were wrong to do so. In all the years of watching you post on two boards, I've never seen you admit an error; I don't suppose you'll surprise me now.

I clearly stated the situations above where I would want AWD. Universal dismissal? lol.
And unlike you, I owned a few ones (Audi, Subaru), thank you.

ETA: You might note that the principle limitation of the Hellcats noted by the automotive journalists is the lack of grip.
