Just saw my first Ford GT on the road

The wife and I were coming home from lunch at a place in Fairfax (close to Fairfax Circle). We were on Braddock Road in the Centreville area, heading towards route 28, when suddenly there was this yellow thing with black racing stripes heading in the opposite direction.

A Ford GT!!!

First one I've ever seen in person. WOW! Must have driven the wife nuts since I talked cars for the next 20 minutes. She's a great listener.. at least she pretends she is. Me.. I was spellbound. You just don't see these things everyday.

Yeah, I was like that when I saw one on the road for the first time LOL. I've seen like five of them this year already, one yellow, two red ones, black one, and a white one all with stripes.

I haven't seen one in a person.to me, the Ford GT is overpriced and it tanked at the dealership. on top of that the inital mark up was bullshit. they wanted 450 grand(which 300 k over sticker) for that much you're not to far off from a Mercedes SLR McLaren. which that car fricken amazing. high priced i'll admit that but amazing.
if you're gonna drop 130+ grand on a 500+ hp car and want to get attention personally I'd go with a Mercedes SL55 AMG. it has a supercharged 5.5 V-8 making 510 hp. yes I know the Ford GT does the same with the 5.4 with a Eaton supercharger and produces 40 more hp. but i'll give up 40 hp for that cool power covert. hardtop.

First of all the GT at $139K MSRP is not overpriced, when I think overpriced the F430 and definitely the SLR comes to mind. Second, I've never seen Ford GT's being advertised for $400K. And third, an SL55 will never get the attention of a GT, they are in very different categories.

You guys are so two years ago. You could see the Ford GT rocking around here in late 2004, prototypes or whatever they're called.

I just think it was great having seen one on the road. Personally, were I of the mind, I'd rather get a new Z06. I've only seen one of those on the road, too.

it wasn't advertised at 400 k. when the Ford GT was first rolling out and you went into the dealer. even if you had 140k they'd refuse to sell to you. Jay Leno even bitched about this. That he was contaced by multiple Ford dealers(even after buying the first off the line GT) he was just playing with them and asked how much they wanted they all dead seriously said in the 400 grand range. the Ford GT is a "throw back" car to the GT40. kind of like the current Mustang and Camero that's coming out(if they keep the prototype similar to production and the Challenger when Dodge brings that on) all these people think back to 70s when Muscle cars were big and old school styling. it's a trend. it will be over in a few years at the tops.

Suburban Honda has a $2000 markup on their Civic Si in stock.
So, if a Ford dealer was allocated a GT, I'm thinking, oh, $22,000 markup easily, if not more.

If you're ever traveling through here, check out I-69 between Flint and Lansing. The road and the cities aren't terribly interesting, but I often see Acuras, Lexuses, and exotic sports cars on this stretch. Absolutely no idea why, unless people are going to casinos in Sarnia and going back to "work for the people" [ ] at their offices in Lansing.

sometime drive on I-75 in Michigan. the potholes could swallow a Peterbuilt. if I had a new ride I wouldn't take it to Michigan cause your alignment screwed once you cross over into MI. #2. OSU FOOTBALL OWNS AND WILL ALWAYS OWN UM.

living fairly close to Marysville I occassionally see cars shortly before press releases about Honda. Honda so tight lipped that they don't take cars out on the public roads. when I was in college. I WILL SWEAR I SAW THE CURRENT GEN. Caddy STS like early build like 3 years ago. it was hauling ass on I-75 south through Ohio. I was doing like 72-73 and it with about 3 other caddys was running in the fast lane past me and it didn't have any like emblems on it and all the plates on the "following cars and blockers" all said MFG so I figured it was a prototype either out for a "long test drive" or their driving it somewhere. but once the current STS came out it looked VERY similar to what I saw.

Are you high? Forgot to take your mornin pills?

How can you even begin to compare a GT to an SL55. Yeah the SL is a sweet ride but its no GT.

Over here in KY, I heard dealers were trying to gouge approx. $220k from people.

And as much as I usually hate Ford products, I will say that the GT is a very good car, and is defintely NOT overpriced. Overpriced is the F430 (and it's mammoth options lists).
