I've been contemplating an S2000 for a while now. I just don't know what type of used beater to buy to drive the 600 miles a week I need to for work.
What I really need to do is move closer to work... sigh

I then stumbled on my leftover '06 S2000 at an Acura dealer (go figure). They purchased it from Honda auction and it came with the full manufacturers warranty. It had been title to Honda about 6 weeks before, but never to an individual owner.
Now if the sun would come out and the temp would just rise to about 60 degrees...

The '06 is a good pick up. It has DBW but is the only S2000 to my knowledge that Hondata has a reflash for.
It's hard to pick up any power without forced induction on the S2000 but on the '06 thanks to the ECU you can actually pick up a decent amount of power without anything fancy (intake/header/exhaust/reflash)

There is very little you can do in terms of bolt-ons to gain more then a single HP here or there, it hardly seems worth the money, save it for FI if you need more power.

Drive By Wire
The '00-'05 cars were the traditional cable style throttle body.
It's an ECU reprogramming done by HONDATA.
Just learned it also works on the '07 cars so maybe it'll work on the '08+ as well.
Stock just a reflash is:
VTEC point decreased from 6000 rpm to 5600 rpm
Rev limit 8500 rpm
Maximum torque gain 14 ft/lbs torque at 5800 rpm
Maximum power gain 16 hp at 5800 rpm
Fully dealer compatible - works with all Honda scan tools and equipment
With TODA header:
VTEC point decreased from 6000 rpm to 4200 rpm
Rev limit 8500 rpm
Maximum torque gain 20 ft/lbs torque at 5800 rpm
Maximum power gain 23 hp at 5800 rpm
Fully dealer compatible - works with all Honda scan tools and equipment
for $595 it's pretty damn good IMO

I have not driven a car with a reflash, however... it certainly would help in the midrange.
Shouldn't affect your warranty as the dealership won't even know it's been done.
