Just got a job at infiniti and am driving the cars...

I just started working here monday so I have to take some tests and get certified in all the cars before I can sell one so I got to play with them a little.
Fist off I was never a "fan" of infiniti but I have to say there line-up is OUTSTANDING... For the price and options nothing touches the G coupe/sedan or convertable..(well I didnt drive the convertable yet).
I drove the 4 door and coupe X G's auto 7 speed.. This transmission is amazing there is power at the whole range and u feel it. The downshift rev matching works GREAT! all the toys u can get I think the G sedan blows away the TL BUT i have not drove the SH-AWD TL yet but when it came to the FWD it handles alot better 56/44 weght distrabution on AWD the pick up from stop and passing is a lot better.. The nav is touch screen AND has the knob to controll it.. VERY EASY TO USE everything in this car...
Acura has nothing to compare with the coupe or the convertable G.
Then the "M" which i was looking to buy a year ago ( I was looking for a 06 RL or 05 M35X but never pulled the trigger bought a condo instead) The M is getting dated but the redesign is comming and it looks stunning.. The car has alot of things.. When it comes to the RL and M35X its close but then they have the M45X thats a diff ballpark..
The M handles good also but its more a cruising car the a performance car..
I didnt get to drive the EX/FX or QX yet but am really looking foward to drive the FX50...
All I gotta say is acura gotta step it up...

I know i do cuz I can't spell or my grammer sux the only way i can make a decent living is selling cars, well its worked the last 5 years.. B4 this I sold GM's and I will be the first to tell u GM sux... But the "G" are amazing I loved the M35X but after driving the new G37X I think that I would buy that next instead of a "M" but my heart is still set on a RL but after using there Navigation and driving the G IT AWSOME.. I really love the convertable but need AWD maybee in a year or 2 they will make the convertable in AWD..
What I dont understand is why acura can't build a 5 speed auto that works and Infinity has a 7 SPEED!!

Dude, selling cars is a tough-ass job....if you've stayed in it that long my hat's off to ya. It chewed me up and spit me out back in the day, I couldn't handle it.

Even selling a M3 is tough nowadays in this economy as a buddy of mine is working here in a bimmer dealer .... but I agree with other posters here: don't be too obvious when you want to generate more leads here on AZ while selling infiniti ...

of course Acura cannot compete with Gs cuz they have no coupes.

Is Acura the only brand that does not have a coupe/convertible now?

i have an EX35 and i like it. its pretty suite. my wife is a horrible parker and the around view cameras come in clutch for her. only downside is that it is fairly small in the back but thats ok we don't have anyone back there except for our Yorkie sometimes.

I was never a big fan of Audi until I worked with and drove them for almost two years. Now the new A4 is one of only three cars on my list for my next new-car purchase.

My dad has a 05 G35x and him and I both love that thing. I must say Infiniti SERIOUSLY stepped up the game with the 2g G35/37 compared to the 1st gen. When I sit in a 2nd gen, it blows our current G35x out of the water. The build quality, overall design, and available options are just outstanding.

My dad said if he won the lottery he would get a 09 G37Sx (or is it G37xS?) convertible. He's not too flashy.

In terms of performance

M35>RL
G37>TL
G37x>TL SH-AWD
EX35>RDX
FX35>MDX

I'm curious to see if Infinti ever comes out with a 4 cylinder and how that would match up against the TSX. If the trend continues it should outperform the TSX (hypothetically)

Correct....All the Acura model Nav systems are now used by knob or voice. I use the voice control more often than the knob when using my RDX's navigation.

The older Infiniti Nav units used to be by knob only and now are knob and touch and voice, plus the Infiniti nav is probably a bit easier to use than the Acura's now.

Just my $.02

I'd take an RL over an M35, partly because of the SH-AWD and IMO the current M looks pretty ugly. Concept looks nice though

I don't think you can compare an FX to an MDX. MDX is a lot taller, with the 3rd row seat and cargo space. FX is low-slung, smaller, much faster, but much more expensive.

I agree it's not always apples to apples when vehicles are seemingly in the same class.

Personally, I feel the current RL is very compared to the M35 being a surprisingly fun large car to drive. There is nothing youthful about the current RL, nothing exciting. I know that it is designed that way, but it leaves little for younger(those of us under 50) Acura owners/drivers to lust after. It seems the lines are clearly drawn, and there is little room for owners to upgrade within the current Acura brand, which is sad.

More importantly, don't be the salesman that doesn't as much about the cars they are selling than the people buying them. Learn everything you can about the cars, not just what's printed in the sales brochure.

You sound like me when I first saw the G37 Coupe. It is a very nice car inside and out. The only other coupe I like (inside and out) better than it is the A5, but even so, it's ~10K more expensive and still do not have everything the G has. And the G has more ponies.

edit: oh, congrats on the new gig. Good luck! I could never be a salesperson.

I find that I am impressed with salespeople that are "car guys", but that never was a factor for me when buying a car. In fact, the guy who sold me my G didn't know jack about the car.

That is why I could never be a car saleman. Sooo many people waste your time talking a good game and / or driving your car that never intend on buying the car. Especially car guys.

The EX and FX are NOT competitors to the RDX and MDX, where the former have no direct competitors @ Acura. (Although an argument could be made for comparing the RDX and FX, an EX would require a TSX V6 wagon.)

If the economy were to have remained in serious recession for years to come, Infiniti might have looked to curtail the bleeding by opting for an entry level G20 sucessor maybe on an Altima based platform using the QR25DE. (<---just my assumption) However, Honda makes the best n/a four cylinder motors on the planet...bar NONE!! As the best 4 cylinder ever produced by Nissan (the SR20DE/T) has long since been retired, Nissan would have their work cut out for them in trumping the K-series. NOTE: I'm a farily big Nissan fan but, I have to keep it real.

Well, I think the RDX could be compared to the EX just because their both entry level sports crossovers. Both are kinda low and wagon like and they both are about the same price. Same can be said of the FX and MDX. Even though they aren't "direct" competitors, they can still compared because of size and price.

A G25 with the VQ25HR could be on it's way to the US which would be a more direct competitor to the TSX. Although it's not an I4 it'll be a stiff competitor to the TSX and IS250. I don't think there's a need for Infiniti to make a sub-G sedan. Maybe just a coupe to go head to head with the 1 series.

MDX
7 passenger SUV
142.2 cu ft passenger room
83.5 cu ft of cargo space versus

FX
5 passenger SUV
102.5 cu ft pax room
62 cu ft cargo space.

Regardless of price points, these are two will likely serve two different types of buyers. ...and I'm speaking as one who is ACTIVELY shopping upscale branded crossover SUVs.
