Just drove a new M5!
Wow - that thing is quick! It's a 5 liter V10, but the car is heavy and not that torquey down low. But - as those RPMs get higher that thing just breathes better and better. The red line is 8k!
It's like being attached to a big rubberband. The acceleration just gets faster and faster! The down side it that EVERYTHING is run through the computer system. Just turning the radio or AC on is a bit of a chore.
Thanks for letting me drive your car, Mo! My GF has the COOLEST friends!

I have not yet been in the new M5. I assume they're much faster than the older gen of M5 that I drove. It was nice to have a friend who owns an M5 and let you test drive it :two thumbs up:
I've been checking the M5 board and M5 forums to see if anyone has yet posted a video of the race between M5 and IS300. Last weekend my friend was challenged by a new M5 on the highway for a race. They did about 8~9 pulls and my buddy's IS300 spanked him each time. The M5 had a passenger who was taping the race...
wonder if they'll ever post it....
M5 435rwhp vs IS300 550rwhp

Are you talking about a stock IS300? Even the IS350 will get spanked on a highway pull race with a M5.

As much as I dislike the E60s, it should never be compared to an IS300, modded or not.

That would be a hell of a learning experience. I'd have to be on the phone with tech before we ever touched it! SMG 7 speed - nice!

I'm sure there was plenty of torque, but that hp curve (ok line - since it really never went back down) overshadowed it in my mind.

No "///" on the M button. It just reads "M"
It reminds me of speed racer's "G" button in the middle of the steering wheel.
Am I dating myself???

I just got home and there is a new M5 parked on my street. It is all black with pretty dark tint on it. Basically a stock car. I have always been like MEH for the new M5,....didnt really like the back much etc. Of course I went over to examine it in person etc when I saw it. The car looks A LOT BETTER in person,.......pretty bad ass.

My friend let me drive his M6 a while back...
Very awesome car. Handles very well for a big car. Always feels planted. As stated, it isn't really all that torquey down low but as the rpms climb there is alot of excitement. Seat of the pants feel is that my blown CTSV is quicker but the real 1/4 mile numbers show the M5/M6 is a little quicker (at least with me shifting).
