Damn that is one clean E46! Nice job on keeping it fresh, not so good that it went to JB and not me.

LOL. It was actually SaaBaaDoo's idea. When we met up to complete the transaction he was like, don't even say anything, just change the title.

I'm curious how much he budged.
But I don't blame you for not divulging, although I have a number in my head and bet I'm right.

You have no idea how much I kick myself in the ass for not buying my HS buddy's black E46 manual coupe about 5 years ago...he wanted like $10K for it...he had done all maintenance (he's a German freak and an engineer)...had 19" staggered racing dynamic wheels...

passed on it for the S2000 and he sold it to some kid that totaled it within a month.

He budged a little. From researching, I likely paid a little on the upper end, but didn't overpay. Car is in amazing condition for 14 years old though... so worth it IMO.

it's better to overpay knowing you are getting a quality example vs saving a few bucks and gambling on the history like that blue one J went to see...

i feel that's the rule with any high powered performance vehicle that you know probably didn't have an easy life... people buy these cars for a reason and it's not to drive miss daisy...

I'll have to pull up the spreadsheet with the service history and check. Not sure off-hand...

Thanks all!

I have some small carbon bits on the way. That will likely be it for a while.

In fact, it's good we met last Friday to do this b/c I just got home from the Toyota dealership... $2k worth of work on the FJ . So that was good timing on the Bimmer

I'm torn on this. Part of me wants to keep it fairly stock since there is some appeal in that. Then, part of me wants to mod (wheels, bolt-ons, few appearance goodies, etc). So not quite sure what I'm going to do yet. I really do want an exhaust, but I need to find one that doesn't drone and isn't bad at highway cruising speeds. We'll see. I'm going to live with it for a bit and decide then. I have a couple of small goodies coming (very small appearance things), but outside of that I'm going to just digest this a bit and see where it takes me

Do wheels and exhaust

then when you sell it in 8 months, take mods off, sell it as a "virgin, rare unmodded m3" like everyone else

I agree in that there is some appeal (IMO anyway) to a stock looking, clean as hell 2003 M3.. On the other hand if you were to change the wheels and a few other bolt on's you could always go back to stock in the future..

This is the way I have been leaning. Few easy bolt-ons and if I ever sell, swap it back.

I definitely see myself keeping this one. It's not like the Vagon that had $40k tied into it and it just sat. This is a fun, inexpensive car that I love, can keep around for a while, and will still have money to put into other things.

I get the appeal of driving a car stock for a while before doing anything. The new car is a ton of change in itself to keep an owner engaged for a while.
