Certainly true as only time will tell. But your other thoughts are valid as well...there would be impossible to tell in a single car in the real world as there will be so many variables that could've contributed to motor wear and tear. Until we get hard data from an engineer....some people will definitely be skeptical of this feature.

One interesting thought experiment with regards to your 1-2mpg comment, we can think of it as how much money that additional 1-2mpg may save over a very long time.
200k mi at 20mpg: 10000 gallons
200k mi at 21mpg: 9524 gallons - savings of 476 gallons ($1351 @ avg $2.84/gal)
200k mi at 22mpg: 9090 gallons - savings of 910 gallons ($2584 @ avg $2.84/gal)

Of course this would only be feasible if someone were to keep their car for a very long time and they'll have to calculate whether turning that feature off is worth the cost.
It would take an average driver 16.7 years to reach the $1351 saving or $2584 savings

With 2mpg saving @$2584, that is $12.8 a month or if you fill out 4 times a week, that is $3.20 per week.
1mpg saving.. well half of that.

vs. The unknown impact on your engine long term.

More realistically, I seriously dont think i can drive a car for 16.7 years to get that saving ...

I think that depends on how much you drive, but point taken.

Indeed it is different if you are not going to drive it for that many miles and certainly each driver will have to see if the comfort of turning that off is worth a small amt of money per fill up.

It'll be interesting to see in the future if any class action lawsuits arise out as the repeated start/stop causes premature wear of certain components since not all motors/starters are equal and diff OEMs may have their own issues.

They still kick the engine on and off at will depending on what the car needs.

Obviously if you are an Uber driver, then every bit adds up... But i did say for an "average" driver, 12k miles a year. 200k miles/12k miles a year = 16.7 years.

Hot shit, Kurt...
I forget, did you lease or purchase?
Purchase, right?
Have you ordered the H&R Sport springs yet?
Don't wait on that...it's a game changer.

Honestly, it was a great deal for this car but I'm a little shellshocked by the price. I won't be spending on car stuff for a while outside of a black license plate.

On the Audi, made it 3 months before some take offs (needed tires)...on the Yukon made it a month (needed tires)...
I'm bad news but if tires are good I'd work with what you got, I guess...when the time comes for tires...a lightly used set of takeoffs will probably not set you back much.
