Jay Wolfe Acura's (in Kansas City) incredible trade-in!
I thought you would enjoy seeing this.....
Jay Wolfe Acura took this beautiful 1991 NSX in on trade. Ironincally, a doctor in Kansas City owned this and traded it in on a MDX.....unbelievable.
It's a one owner car-it has only 26,776 original miles on it! The dealership has spent 3 months doing a thorough go-thru on this NSX (oil change, timing belt, all fluids, etc.) to bring it up to date. It is now on the showroom floor, as you walk in the door-IT IS NOT FOR SALE. Trust me, I spoke to the managing partner-they won't sell it!
They even found some NSX luggage for it-3 pieces!!!! It's now in the trunk. I didn't even know there was luggage made for it.
I thought you would like to see the pictures....
The owner of Jay Wolfe Acura, Jeff Wolfe, owns a 2005 NSX-the last year the NSX was made. It's a gorgeous car-it has every single Comptech high performance part made on it. I told the managing partner of the dealership that a great Christmas card next year would be this black 1991 NSX along with the owners 2005 NSX and the brand new NSX in the middle. The caption would be, "The first, the last and the new!"
Enjoy!

Beautiful car. Glad they aren't selling it. That is a piece of history.

Stupid doc.....mine is in similar mint condition but I'm keeping mine as investment in the garage. It wont be traded in for an MDX that's for sure.

....that really is hot! And to think, I was impressed with my local Acura dealership having an extremely low mileage 01 Integra GS-R for sale.
A colleague of mine brought in a 91 NSX brochure a couple of years ago. Notable was the fact that said brochure came as a hard cover book. I miss the days when the NSX was front and center in Acura dealerships.

As a doc, let me tell you....not all doctors are financially bright.
I'm still wrapping my mind around the concept that someone traded a PRISTINE 1991 NSX for an MDX. I hope he got the MDX for damned near free.
What. the. Frack.
I hope the guy comes on our forum, sees our scorn, and realizes the error of his ways.

I have that exact car (in 1:18 scale ).
I wonder if the owner bought it? Is it just a showroom draw then? It would be sad if it's just a dealership prop now. That car needs a home. A real home.
edit: And that luggage is sweet.

I have a couple of buddies who are docs that actually did a econ major as undergrads or hold MBAs and it has paid of handsomely for them when it comes to managing their practice and making financial decisions.

Agree on the financial part, my wife is a doc and I question this all the time. Luckily I am a finance guy so it balances out quite well.

Medical school is a butt-load of money to not be fully equipped after walking across the stage.
BTW, I don't think this was stupid on the doctor's part. We've all had a change of priorities in our lives. Honestly, I'd rather see my doctor pull up in an MDX rather than an NSX.

Of course, since the vast majority of physicians now work for someone else, and private practice docs like me are now dinosaurs, the lack of business education is less relevant unless one wants to go into administration.
OK, back to enjoying my week off work.

Hate to the thread, but yeah, my doctor told me about many of his doctor friends that closed their private practice because they had no idea how to run a business. Is it the doctors' fault for not doing what your friend did, knowing (perhaps) that they wanted to run a private practice, or is it the responsibility of our medical schools to add (medical) entrepreneurship to the curriculum, perhaps as an elective. Or do they do this already?

Very nice!
I did know about the luggage but I've never seen good-quality photos of it.

I think it was stupid, but that's just the car guy in me saying that. Even with a change in priorities, he should have just sold the NSX on NSX Prime, or gotten a broker to handle the sale. People would pay top dollar for that NSX, especially with that gorgeous luggage. That car deserves a REAL home with an enthusiast who would let it run free occasionally.
It means I'm a bit judgmental. Flame away.

I don't mind the dealership leaving it on the floor for a while. Gives enthusiasts/owners something to admire while their car is in for service. At least they're sharing the car in some way.

Doctors get NO business education whatsoever in medical school or residency. It's criminal. I learned it all on my own and have run my own practice for almost 14 years now, including the accounting part (though I do have an accountant whose advice I obtain periodically, as needed.) Basics: don't spend what you don't have, and if possible run on a cash basis (I do--my business has no loans or debts to anyone.)
Of course, since the vast majority of physicians now work for someone else, and private practice docs like me are now dinosaurs, the lack of business education is less relevant unless one wants to go into administration.

But I would advise caution and not to be hasty and judgmental. As much as gem that NSX is with rare-I've-never-seen-NSX-luggage before, maybe that doc's life priority has changed with kids, divorce, wife, etc... I'm sure there are people who think those who live in $600k houses are financially dumb witted compared to people living in $300k houses a few blocks away.

I would like to think that someone with that pristine, low mileage of an NSX surely knows its value, and spends more time admiring it than driving it. He wasnt using it as a DD, clearly, meaning that during time of ownership he was able to afford other car(s). The car is sitting in the local showroom for god sakes, im sure he realizes what is happening here.
That being said, something extreme, and immediate, must have happened to the doc. Me thinks divorce, with many losses, and now he needs a quick fix -- an all-in-one car to manage himself during the week, and the kiddies during the weekend, without adjusting his net worth. If his business was struggling over time for financial reasons, he would probably make more of a concerted effort to locate top dollar buyers.

Wow, just wow.
How about everyone is not concerned with finances and have other priorities?
Perhaps he didn't think it was a good use of his time to shop the NSX around for the best price. He might value free time or the ability to practice more medicine over making an extra few $$$on the sale of a car he has had for a long time.
I'm sure we can all be second gussesed on our decisions by people that don't know the whole story. Truth is he may have made a great deal.
