I'm a big fan of the Tesla Roadster and would consider one as a second car. The name is kind of ironic, while I think paying homage to Tesla is something that is long overdue, however, Tesla developed AC and Edison pushed DC, attaching Tesla's name to a car that is powered by DC is kind of a smack in the face. Then again based on the events that took place during Tesla's life this is just more of the same.

The Tesla Roadster uses a 3 phase AC induction motor, a little over my head how they implemented this, but it is direct technology developed by Nikoli Tesla. I also believe the motor itself weighs around 45lbs, pretty cool stuff.

luvs redheads!
as much as i like the car and how cool it is being a roadster and it will save on gas prices....you still are using "energy" and if you do plug it in to recharge the power is coming from the power plants. I am not from CA but dont they have frequent power outages during the summer already?? A/C conditioners and what not?

To get any car to even move, you're always going to be using "energy" of some sort.
And their outages are far from frequent, with most outages lasting less than 12 hours...
I can't wait for electric cars to become the norm if they can make more of them like the tesla.
