Jaguar F-Type Burns to the Ground
Source: http://www.carscoops.com/2013/08/jag...into-blob.html
Reports are just in that a Jaguar F-Type caught fire in Herentals, Belgium, though you would not know just by looking at the pictures, because it is damaged way beyond recognition. Apparently, the owner was driving his recently-purchased new sports car on the highway, when he felt something wrong with the car and reportedly pulled over to see smoke coming out from underneath the bonnet.
The cause of the fire is currently not known, but a specialist from Jaguar will be dispatched from the UK to check it out. What’s interesting is that they used a special foam, instead of water to put out the fire, as most of the F-Type’s structure was made out of lightweight aluminum which melted into a blob. The driver was able to retreat to a safe distance and was uninjured, so that’s good…
However, a spontaneously-combusting new model does not look good in Jaguar’s resume, and they will have to find a satisfactory answer quickly.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!
I'd be pissed if my brand-new very expensive car burned up. It'll be interesting to see how Jag explains this.

Another forum is calling this car a piece of crap, people are yelling that they should all be recalled. I laugh. Being in the automotive industry, I can tell you that every make and model has a small number of cars that spontaneously catch fire.

I've seen a few common cars burn down on the side of the highway. No one seems to go crazy when a CR-V or Traverse catches fire.

I remember a number of years ago dad's RL was recalled because the power steering fluid hose could crack, leak PS fluid onto the exhaust manifold and cause a fairly quick fire. IRC, several Legends of that generation self-BBQ'd in Japan due to the same issue, hence why the recall was made.
