At 5k was it a dealer loaner, or was is a car driven by one of the sales staff, GM, GM's wife, etc?

Just get the extended warranty and you'll be fine. I doubt that you'd keep it long enough for the damage to show anyway.

BTW, the car has 8800 miles, not 5k as listed. Look at the pictures.

Too bad you aren't in the area, or else 38-39k would be a steal for this:

we bought a fleet car for my dad 20k miles. It now has 90k miles and has been solid.
I think Scribby getting cold feet. Maybe he has been hanging out with me.

We can definately talk them down. 45K sticker? Who cares about sticker. What was invoice? then go 5-10K below that. That is what I would shoot for. Just lemme know....my guy left a message this afternoon!!

Do it Eric. Get a 335 so that I can live vicariously through you. Then you can tell me how you got the wifey to agree, so that I can get my wifey to let ME get a 335

Right now, I'm trying the AWD sell for the xi...but there are no used xi's around me.

If you can do better than 37K CPO, let me know. The other issue is that the sales dude I was dealing also offered up a decent number for my TSX. If you get them down on the 335i, I'll likely get hammered in the butt on the trade.

Might as well do it now before the new TSX comes out and your resale tanks.

well, i talked to the guy I know finally....he says that car they are pretty firm. He will ask his manager tomorrow. He swore up and down that they are selling the car at their cost right now. No profit. I don't believe him but he was very adamant. The CPO business I didn't get into because sribster has to decide if he is gonna do this or not.

He say their is wiggle room on the other cars. Just lemme me know what you wanna do!

Talked to the local dealer today and took a 328i around the block. They wanted to sell me the car for invoice; it's a demo with 6K miles and just over three years on the warranty.

I showed them the 335i offer and they took 2k off immediately. So I'd be looking at 33.8K for a '07 328i. Not that great of a deal.

I am confused how can that 335i be worth 39,000 if its sans AWD and Nav?

Just a quick update...

Sadly, I have not made it out to the dealer. Now it won't happen until at least two weeks from this past weekend. Upcoming travels for work...

So we'll see what happens, but this isn't a priority for me right now. Given the recent issues with the stock market, I'm a bit hesitant to dump cash into a car.

In the end, we'll see what happens. I'm willing to bet by the time I am possibly able to get focused on this, the car will be gone. If it's still around, that would be over 100 days sitting on their lot. One would think I could get an even better deal.

Is there any invoice pricing on the 335xi coupe?

edit: nevermind, I looked at the wrong pdf. found it.

I guess the question I'd like to ask is this:

With the information in those pdf's. What should I expect to pay above the dealer's cost? Meaning what kind of number should I go to dealer with in my head?

I hate going to the dealer to haggle price.

I just email the 5 nearest dealers and give them the specs of the car I want. I then tell them the price im looking to the get. End of the email I say "First dealer to agree to this price will get the sale and that I will come in today to leave a deposit." They know you serious. Internet Sales Managers are so much easier to deal with. IMO

Its more fun to let them all scramble for the sale against each other. Out of 5 dealers ill get maybe 2 that will agree. Walking into one dealer you are a sitting duck. I hate feeling like a piece of meat.

As far as the 335i coupe, $1k over invoice is a good goal. $500 over invoice for the sedan.

I agree, going dealer-to-dealer is such a hassle and a pain. This sounds like a really effective way, thanks.

Thanks for the tips, that actually sounds like a great plan. What about the 335xi coupe? Would I be able to do 1k over invoice with that one too?

No idea but i would say 1k over is fair.

My motto is that it never hurts to start low.

Wow, i think i like that method. I assume you have already test driven the cars and you KNOW what car you want. Then you send out the emails and let the dealers actually feel a little pressure to get back to you with a good offer. The way i have played was similar but i wouldn't tell the other dealerships i was contact others. I would just get a price from one and use it at another if need be however, if you put that you've sent it to other dealers, i think that may work in your favor!

Yep I know 100% sure the car and price i want before sending the emails.

The dealers know the faster they agree the less chances of another dealer getting to you first. Of course this means not to low ball too badly. Know how that car is selling and what is a fair deal for both you and the dealer.

Lets face it.. this method is a quick sale for you and them.

Yea i agree! I went through the internet when i got my TSX and then again when i almost upgraded to a TL-S and you get some pretty crazy low offers sometimes. I got my 06 5AT non navi TSX for $24,450+TTL and got an offer on a TL-S 5AT for $33,859+TTL which both were amazing offers. Thanks for the tip
