Hmm, I am toying with the idea of doing a road trip this summer. I may cruise over to the DC/Baltimore area and pay a visit to Custom Performance Engineering. They have a downpipe and catback exhaust out for the ST that looks great. I already have their rear motor mount. I think it would be neat to visit their shop, meet the crew, and do before and after dynos. I'm waiting to do serious performance mods and this summer would be the perfect time. Maybe if I talk to them they can give me a discount for the effort.

do it....sounds like a great plan....

if I owned a performance shop, I would love to see all my customers rather than just packaging up the stuff and send it their way....

talk to them and see if you can get some dyno's, discount, etc....and do not forget to take donuts for the shop crew

That's good to know they're local.

That little voice in your head telling you to do it... listen to it.

My friend bought an HID kit for his car before he bought it. An HID kit, for his Prius also, lowering springs.

I want to. If I didn't owe money on the Jetta (which I want to keep) then I'd be at a Ford dealer

Nice engine mount. Are you having any of those issues with 1-2 banging or wheel hop that these are reported to solve?

I'm getting the 1-2 bang and wheel hop. The stock RMM that Ford put in is too soft. Probably to keep the NVH as low as possible, but if anyone drives the ST "spiritually" they will be in for a surprise. It's an easy fix, though.

Once I install the mounts I will report the difference. Although in this season and tires I haven't been able to see full potential, yet.

It has a turbo.

And thanks for the compliments.

I wonder how Ford could miss that. At least it's an easy fix.

The first generation Speed3 had the issue to some people but it wasn't an issue for me. I do agree it is an NVH trade-off decision.

Surprisingly, the Electric Focus RMM is stiffer than the ST's and people have been swapping it out with that. Some have said they even got the dealers to do it, and some have had the part swapped without paying.

Here's the difference:

For 2014, Ford could easily just use one RMM and have the E-Focus one be standard. But if anything like they did with the Speed3, they just might not care enough.

Agreed. Almost seems like an oversight.

Washed and detailed the car today. The wax I put on the day after I brought her home is still holding up well.

Nope, haven't heard anything yet.

In other news, the Shelby ST may be unveiled at the auto show soon. Speculated, that is.

Interesting. Probably (I'm guessing) 75% appearance and 25% performance.

Haha, $15k for this?

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2013...ROIT/130119903
Flash-forward to the Shelby Focus ST, based on the high-performance Ford Focus ST. It has been tuned to produce more than 300 hp while still getting up to 40 mpg, according to Shelby American. Handling has been improved from the stock Focus ST via Ford Racing suspension parts to lower the car, along with new wheels and tires for better grip. Shelby spec brakes provide the stopping power, while the Shelby/Borla exhaust gives the Focus ST a distinct sound.

Functional hood vents, hydro-carbon grille inserts front and rear, Shelby lettering and a rear hydro-carbon spoiler mark the exterior. Buyers can choose between three graphics packages -- traditional Shelby stripes, Shelby checkered-flag splash or competition graphics.

Inside, the car has a custom Shelby-branded interior with a Shelby shifter and Shelby CSM badge.

The Shelby package adds $14,995 to whatever you pay for a Ford Focus ST. Shelby American will limit production to 500 units per year.

Those seats are ugly.

Change the seats & the checkers on the sides & it would look nice, but not for an extra $15k.

It was exactly what I thought it'd be. Terrible.

Those wheels do not fit. They would get chewed up and possibly deform both the front and rear fenders over time on dips in the road or speed bumps.

What a ripoff. Look at the crappy leather and how poorly it fits. I'm replacing Recaros with them?

Wow that's an abomination of the Shelby name. Sure there were the Shelby Omnis and Charges of the 80's, but at least they were the actual brain child of Shelby himself. Between the graphics, vents and seats, they really ruined the ST's already good looks and tarnished the Shelby legacy IMO.

For what it's worth, I haven't had a single issue with MFT, nor the car in general.

And I absolutely disagree with Juan saying he would only recommend this car in the base trim. The interior and seats on the base trim is just downright stripped, ugly, and a cluster of buttons.

I find the Recaro seats damn comfortable, high quality, and very sexy.

The Ford ST is a damn good car from what I've gathered. I'm not too surprised at the few nominal features missing in the ST at launch, but it's not abnormal for car manufacturers to do this. After all, they have to bring SOMETHING new to the table next year. I'm sure Ford will work out the kinks eventually. MFT is known for overlooked issues -- nothing a simple, free software update can't fix.

The ST is on another level. Yea, it's not as fast as my car, but its much more nicer, comfortable, and livable. And it sounds beefy. I love the induction noise.

I drove a ST2, it seemed to be loaded. It had the my touch, sunroof, recaros, leather, ect.

I loved it.

They had a white base model inside. It was nice, but seemed way too cluttered with buttons without mytouch

Ford has a winner on their hands
