Same reasons Tyler said, all the cars I've seen with frames make me think "It would look so much cleaner without one"

As for the numbers and such on the plate, you don't have to use all of the spaces do you? My custom one had 4 spots but I only used 3.

I've had 2 custom plates and the whole process was fairly simple. After a ~4 week wait, the plate along with new stickers and a new registration card came in the mail. I kept my old registration card as well as my old plate in the glovebox just in case I got pulled over. I'm not sure how it goes in IL but that's how it is in NC.
That's good to know that a new card and stickers come along with it. I'd imagine it would be the same in IL. I could also call them and double check to make sure.

Here's the selection process:

Inside my '13 Ford Focus ST build-9ewo4.jpg

"ST 13" would be my first choice (ST + model year), but that is taken.

I could do "ST 37", which is my bud's favorite number.

"FST 1" is available.

Ford ST 1?

Fast 1?

Fist 1?

I don't want attention, though.

getting a vanity plate with the car model on it is kind of unimaginative.

OP does the ST have a chassis code?

The 2004-2006 TL is "UA6" and that's what my plate is. My plate is for the college I attend but I chose UA6 because I couldn't think of anything else that is 1-4 characters that would fit.

Interesting suggestion. Unfortunately it is "P3L" so that won't work with the format.

Speaking from experience, you're next mod should absolutely be an oil catch can. Since the boosted Ecotec is so new and we don't know how it'll be long tern, if it ends up having any of the oil blow by issues of the MZR you'll be saving your engine from this mess.

Catch can should be installed yesterday.

Its a shame you can't do 6 letters on that plate, otherwise I'd do "MURICA"

Yeah, I can't think of something good myself, either. This is tough.

JBR actually has an OCC. I have heard about build up in the valves. It's definitely a mod to seriously look in to. Thanks.

Its not just the valves you have to worry about, but coating the pistons as well. That could lead to detonation, which is never good. I'd get on that catch can ASAP. The less chance for blow-by, the better.

White Sox plate FTW. Since the plate is black with white lettering, it would look great on your silver car. I really like your car btw. If my TL were to blow up, the ST would be on my short list. It's just an all around great package I saw a black one at the Tampa auto show and it looked great in person too!

Window tint was done today. Looks great. The film is 42% but the light meter registered at 35%. Just about perfect.

Sorry, the photos are pretty bad. It's been raining all day today.

Thanks, everyone. I'm real happy with the tint. And after it settles in a week or so, it should be perfect. I also had my Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3s mounted on the OEM wheels this afternoon. So the ST is all set for winter.

I keep looking over the exterior trying to figure out what I'd change on it.......the only thing Im coming up with is a smaller antenna. The rest looks great as it is.

There's actually a shark fin antenna mod some have been doing. It's about $89 shipped. Not sure how I feel about it.

I have a VG Antenna on my MS6 and I love it. It took a few days to get used to it on there, but now I barely notice it since it looks OEM.

For some reason, the base looks fat to me. For 86 bucks, I wonder how close they can get the Ingot Silver to match. It's a mod where I hope I don't regret spending money on it.

Honestly, the stock "RC" antenna doesn't bother me. Then again, I do like the "shark fin" antenna look. So I'm kinda torn.

Eh, Im not liking the sharkfin. I had one on my car for about two months then ripped it off in favor of a stubby antenna. They do tend to look a bit too fat.

Tint looks awesome, much needed. If there was one thing I'd change besides the antenna, it'd be the exhaust tips. JMO.

For the plate, have you considered getting something like "PSHHH", regarding the fact that it's turbo? A boosted Solstice around here has "VROOMPSH", which made me chuckle until I heard it in action.

The more I look at this car the more I like! Do you know if you can get one w/o a sunroof? Also do you know the specs on the wheels, offset, bolt pattern etc. I'm curious if my weds will fit...

Yes you can get one without a moonroof.

The OEM wheels are 8x18 +55 and unfortunately (for the sake of availability) the bolt pattern is 5x108.

Yep, it makes the choices slim...

I flashed the ECU with the tune today. The car has completely woken up. Second gear explodes to redline and traction is hard to come by. Wish I wasn't on the winter tires. But third gear is "shit your pants" gear. Good God. +23hp +45lb-ft tq makes a huge difference. I drove it around for 50 miles. And believe it or not, my gas mileage did not suffer. I did my second fill up of 93 and Fuelly shows 25mpg and the on-board computer says 24.5mpg.

I really need to get a GoPro.
