Impressions of R32
Hey, i got back to NY last night and randomly ran into some kid that i know. He just got an R32 and took me out for a ride and handed me the keys (which was pretty surprising because i dont know him that well).
This car is not a golf. It handles soooo well. He had summer tires and i took it through some twisties and it stuck to the ground like it was on rails, but the ride was extremely refined, and at no point was it even the slightest bit harsh, despite being totally level through the corners and gripping like its life depended on it.
stock i would say its a little slow. its a hell of a lot faster then my 1st gen v6, but i was expecting something a little more impressive.
In traditional vw/audi style, it was really easy to drive, with a very forgiving clutch that took me only a few shifts to get used to. by the feel of it i wouldn't be surprised if they lifted the 6 speed and clutch right out of the s4's, because it felt just like my friends 2001 s4.
The seats are bucket seats (recaro style) but leather and very comfy (i could imagine sitting in them on a long drive).
all in all, the car is great. is it worth the price tag? probably not. i think it is a great car, just could use a bit more power and $2-4g's off of hte price tag. for $32g's, that almost g35c and tl territory. i know thats not a fair comparison, but if you look at what else you can get for that price, and look at the r32, your only getting a quick car that is well refined and handles well (and awd)...and thats a lot to charge for just that.
on another note, i also drove my other friends 4.4 x5 and wow that thing has torque!

They look awesome. interior is clean...but i'd still take an Sti over an R32.
I was just reading an article the other day in one of the mags on how VW forgot about the GTIs roots, the car that started the import sports hatch craze....by making it a big heavy pig...and how they are getting back to it with the new upcoming GTI...but still arent quite there.

I stand corrected. It'll just have less garbage quality.

Cost Drivers!!!!
awesome little car. Plenty of push down low and nice easy clutch. If i had the money to add the turbo's to that car I'd rock it in a second. 32k is a bit expensive for it....

John, thats the kid i am talking about. He's a fucking herb. He swears he knows about cars, but whenever he sees me at Hector's i gotta hit him up with some knoledge. He spent an hour convincing himself that buying the R32 was a right decision, it was so fucking sad. I can't stand the kid, he doesn't know the first thing about modding a car. For God's sake, he is so shook by the police that he sold his RSX and doesnt want to mod the R32. I use to laugh at him and his auto RSX whenever he tried to race me.

either way, dave schnur fuckin sucks as a human being.
R32 is a awesome car, not justified for the price. do u know what kind of american muscle you can get with 30k? granted, it may not handle as well. but if im throwing down that kinda cash i dont want girls thinking im driving some shitty golf.... enough said...

The R32 looks pretty elegant (consider what it does and it's a VW) from the back and profile views. The front is alright at best. It handles very well, goes fast enough (if you disregard the price), and is reasonably comfortable and practical.
Where'd they fuck up?
All that should be 5k cheaper to sell like hotcakes (See Also: 05 Mustang GT). That is all.
